the invasion 44 CTI maps...any servers yet?

Recommended Posts

Well, this CTI is full of bugs. crazy_o.gif

There are many error messages, buildtimes are screwed up.

Rearming does not work, updates have not been adjusted correct to the new units. Unused lines are just commented out in the scripts and not deleted...

last but not least, the downloads are screwed up. I downloaded the maps and the Core Addons, but the CTI didn't work. Had to download the Extension Addons also. rock.gif

I think this post seems to be very arrant, but I dislike the fact that nearly half of the scripts are untouched, which are needed for the game to work properly. This should be stated as beta, not as final... sad_o.gif

edit:

Err, it is working, besides the errors and so on...

yea we ran a test on some private machines and the CTIs pretty much crapped out

who ever converted them did a shit job

the winter kol one was nice but i converted 1.16 to this with full keg winter addons (men and vehicles) and it was awesome

RN butta actually has a WWII mod that is way better with more detailed addons

we'll probley go with that

yea a complete moron set that up, I reduced the addons to about 109 megs instead of 300 something

I think our WWII is about 79 megs, but butta hardly ever comes here, he's asked me bout us hosting it and since our web servers are faster then any one elses they should come in at every ones max downloads smile_o.gif

we all ready host a few MODs sites for Deserts warfare for Quaker Gamer, might as well do WWII

Mal is right the missions are full of bugs, we can better explain them if you want, but there is no point unless some one is going to improve them.

I played most of them last night as SP, while there's no denying the bunch of scripting error messages that appear they are bloody good fun and very enjoyable.

Of course playing them alone SP doesn't mean they would work with a number of others in proper MP. Just wanted to give a little balance to the thread smile_o.gif

We will be releasing an "Official" Invasion '44 CTI with the full mod. It wont be long before my mission team gets its hands on all the goodies and starts work on the Campaign and all the SP/MP missions.

The CTI44 FifthElement server is up 24/7

http://ofp.fifthelement.net

But you need to get the latest addons from his site, for the Stuart tank and Eastern front version.

Good to hear the full version Inv44 is iminent(ish).

The current version of ELVCTI44 does have bugs but Coop's are playable. It suffers more from a mish mash of different addons that dont really work together.

But yes it is damn good fun even at this stage.

We have ALL the latest addons loaded on our servers, I see no problems with the addons everything worked fine. The problem is with the missions. When playing COOP enemy just builds tons of empty tanks that never move out, their base just sits idle. Havent seen any of these issues playing a game vs other people.

My comment about addons was more about there disparity, the Sherman appears to be usless against buildings and just about anything other than infantry.

I did notice one or two empty tanks at there base, but thought nothing of it. More noticable was about six AI aircraft trapped in a nearby wood.

If the ELV version is just an update and there is not going to be any bug fixes? I'd have a go myself, if it's just fixing things like crewed vehicles and spawned aircraft.

I understand the critism (true in many regards). First, I am relatively new to ofp so I am still learning. I saw all the wwii addons and liked the game play of mfcti. On the mfcti forums I found the original version of cti44 done by another person for an older version of mfcti. I took many things from the old version and converted it to mfcti 1.16. It really is just slopped together (commented lines etc etc). It by no means is a finished product, but the core features are very playable (at least for some of us it is??).

The addons are another story. Many of the addons were carried over from the original CTI44 and I have added more (the extensons). If you have found unused addons please send me the list so I can remove them (cti44 has evolved so fast just havent had time to keep up with the unused addons). There doesn't seem to be any one mod that has a complete package for all the aspects of cti (from infantry to planes across German,Russian,IJA,US). The result it trying to pick ones and combine them. They don't always play good together! I have tried to adjust some (mostly just armor and speed). I dont feel I know enough about the addons to do it at this time.

I am a little surprised some people are having problems with the script errors. We have been playing for months without any script errors or problems. From the feedback I have received

these script errors are causing the idle tanks anbd other problems with AI commanders. We have played some tough games against the AI commander (lots of tanks and infantry), so I am not sure why some people having problems. It is hard for me to fix the problem if I cant reproduce it...

I am trying to fix the starting locations. Its just a matter of time going through all the staring locations and checking that they aren't in building or forests (AI doesnt know how to move to a clear location)

I haven't found another wwii cti version out there. So until there is something better this is it (as ugly as it may seem). If anyone wants to help fix some of these problems let me know and I can send you the original sources I have been working from to build the missions.

I understand the enormity of the task, I'm sure either the final Inv44 or Eastern front Mods will give both sides the balanced armour. It's great fun already, so it can only get better smile_o.gif

I would be glad to help if I can, I've already depboed a coop mission to take a look, that is the current version?. Any pointers as to where to look other than the obvious AddMannedVehicle.sqs e.t.c, would be much appreciated.

Cheers

it takes a while to learn where stuss is in the CTI PBOs, your best bet is to look at the MF CTI 1.16 and then the WWIICTI, once you see where the changes are for say a tank or a tropper you have to do a word search in every file and change it, i think this was thier problem in these released maps

I think the @cti44-all.zip from ofp.info (ftp://www.gamezone.cz/ofpd/mods/@cti44-all.zip) is outdated. I am not sure if they downloaded the file before the updates where finished or what. (The listing on ofp.info was not really planned it just happened). One other person has told me something similar too. That said I was still not able to reproduce the errors. AI commander builds tanks with crew and sends them out?rock.gif I have been using version 1.96 if that makes a different. IT seems to be working for some people to I am not sure what is happening.

BTW that is how I did part of the conversion. Grepped the files to find the ones I needed to change. Out of all the files in mfcti there really is only a small set of the critical files that needs to be changed.

I think the @cti44-all.zip from ofp.info (ftp://www.gamezone.cz/ofpd/mods/@cti44-all.zip) is outdated.

The mission pack definitely is as I've just checked it, the mission pack on Ofp.info has dates of June 17th&18th for most missions, I've just Emailed Cervo and hopefully it will get sorted smile_o.gif I downloaded it with bittorrent as the download link on your site wasn't working smile_o.gif

With regard to the @cti44-all.zip pack isn't that just the addons & islands? In what way has that changed from the version Ofp.info put on their site?

Malboeuf, could you tell me which addons are need for the winter version? I have Winter Nogojev and Winter Everon + all the usual CR and mfcti 1.16 addons. Anything else?

There are actually 2 pbo files in there that are cti44 specific. One that I put together and one that the original cti44 author did. CTI44Units has not changed in a while, but the ELVCTIUnits changed recently.

Yeah, the usual debug method. Although any version will do at this stage. There is alot of code to wade through, but most of it is straight forward.

But if the original base files had errors, would it not be easier just to take a bug free version, and start again?

I'm assuming Int1 has already done this once, so I would understand if he did not want to stat over.

One bug (I think its a bug?) I was looking at just to become familiar with the process, is that the basic east soldier appears to takes ages to build compared to others. Add a few of these to the que, and the infantry factory practicle grinds to a halt.

I uploaded the updated "missions-all.zip" to Ofp.info.

It's well worth your while speaking to them so they know what's ready to be hosted, they have the capacity and bandwidth to share large files so it makes sense to take advantage of that smile_o.gif

Good news! I was finally able to recreate the script errors and found the problem (at least a few of them anyway). I uploaded the corrected missions files (see the website for a list of all the bugs that were fixed). Please test it and let me know if you are still having problems with the COOP missions.

Okies a couple of things.......

Last night the new missions were asking for "VonRStu" which I don't have, I have VonR_Stuart from the ww2ec_USPack1.1 which is close but no cigar, I unpbo'd the mission and removed VonRstu from the required addon list and it then seemed to work fine.

Maybe it's me but the addons situation is confusing with regard to your missions, I know it may take some time but would it be possible to list what addons each addon pack includes? If we're missing an addon we'll then know which pack we need rather than having to download the large zip containing them all, also if any addon zips have changed as to what they're containing noting that with the date and maybe even a list of changes would help.

It would be a good idea if you plan to continue working on this project (I and many others hope you do) you look into making a banner/sig image to advertise your wares, If you're not of an artistic lent ask someone like Drow, he's always pimping his skills wink_o.gif

Downloading from your site seems impossible, as I said you should speak to Ofp.Info, they can most likely make arrangements for you to upload updated versions of your files to them ready for hosting, if for some reason you have an aversion to Ofp.info there are others out there who may be able to provide hosting. Bit torrent is a great idea as a backup method of downloading, as the only choice (which it seems to be right now) you're unfortunately blocking out a lot of those less technically inclined from experiencing the great fun that your missions are smile_o.gif

Just my 47cents wink_o.gif

I agree the addons are very confusing. I will try to put together a list of the addon packages and their contents. There is a m3 stuart patch on the cti44 website (only about 4MB) that will add the stuart (it is also now included in the bigger files as well). I dont think the stuart from the US pack will work (the config.cpp in renamed to config.___ in thevonstuart.pbo included with the pack--- I think they are naming it different in the main USpack configuration). I didnt want to add a dependency of requiring the US pack for cti44 (yet anyway) so I used the original config.cpp from the vonstuart. I think the core addons are settling down and won't need to add any new addons (excluding thePacific and Eastern Front are still changing though). I think changes to the ELVCTIUnits.pbo (a very small file) will take care of a lot of the requests I have received to adjust armor and ammo strengths to make all the addons play fair together. Hopefully there wont be as much confusion with fewer addon changes.

Does ofp.info give user account access or do you have to send them a request each time to have them pull the file? It would be easy if I could just upload the files to their server when they have changed....
