Buying old weapons

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could maybe buy some old world war two rifles or anything in complete form, and not in parts like Ebay. I am hoping to maybe purchase an old Enfield, without bullets so I don't get too upset at family, just for an odd collection of sorts. I'd also like to know where I could aquire uniforms and things like that.

You would probobaly have to go to gun auctions most likely, that's the only place I know of.

i got my old M1 Garand at a gun show, you can find alot of old vintage weaponry there. I wouldnt recommend buying of the internet though, you need to have it shipped to you closest authorized gun retailer and some other crap.

As for uniforms, you can find stuff like that on the internet pretty easily but it all depends on how much you are willing to spend

Whether the gun needs to go through a dealer (actually an FFL holder) or not depends on whether the gun is a curio or not. According to the BATF, the Enfield is a curio under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, so while it is a firearm, acquiring one becomes easier and it can be shipped directly to the buyer.

However, you must still have a Collector's License from the BATF in order to buy a curio and receive it. Information on how to get such a license can be found on the BATF website.

eBay and many other online auction sites don't list firearms and related items anymore because of liability concerns. A good online place to look for firearms is Guns America.

Can they ship to Ontario?

Ontario Canada? Doh! I should have checked your profile.

I guess it depends on who "they" are. Guns America is just an auction site, they are not a dealer. However, in principle, there is nothing to prevent a US dealer from selling to a foreign buyer, though there is extra paperwork involved, and some will probably not put up with the hassle. It would probably be much simpler and less expensive to find something in your home country.

I know nothing regarding the legalities of buying firearms in Canada, so you should seek another source of advice.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd guess that the US government would say no. I would beleive that the government would like to keep controll and identification of whats inert, and what would be potentially dangerous.

Over here in Belgium there's this huge market every 6 months... you can buy everything there...

Machine guns like Thompsons, all kinds of nades, M1s and other rifles, sniper rifles, helmets, clothes, AKs (sometimes), bazookas, LAWs, I've seen an m16 once, .50 MG (yeah those big fuckers), scopes, all kinds of medals, old bullets, bajonets, knifes, mortars, vehicles (rather rare but i've seen it), etc etc

Seriously, you can find everything there... WWI, II or other militairy stuff... everything... I've been to that market twice and i've seen a looooot of stuff... a friend of mine goes there every 6 months...  he's kinda obsessed by all this war stuff...

There are also some other markets, smaller ones, you can go to them once every month... you can buy a lot of stuff there too...

Sad enough, you don't live very close...

That's the good part about living in Central Europe, we find WWII stuff whole the damn time so you can find it without too much effort...

If you want bullets, just go to the woods smile_o.gif
