Seems the Swedish UN contingent was scheduled to leave Congo on Thursday, but the latest spree of riots and attacks have made it impossible to fly out as planned. The UN soldiers are now holed up near the airport, with all hell breaking lose in the city.

It's a case of the media being hysterical. Saw some footage of the riots by the Swedis position. An abandoned UN vehicle was set on fire and demonstrators were throwing...I shit you not....fruits at the soldiers. Mind you that banana looked like it had some very sharp edges, but still, I'd say that they have a fair chance of surviving.

If nothing else, they're at a bloody airport and can get airlifted out at any time should they find themsleves unable to handle the ballistic fruit assault.
