VerySolidSnake 0 Posted March 30, 2004 Hey guys, don't know if u know already but i run the site www.fansn.com. I'm a amature film producer, and in the near future i'm going to be filming a fake Cold War battle. Originally I thought in order for me to place fake planes/helis in the air I would have to 3d model them, then greenscreen from there. But then it hit me, why not do everything in OFP. I imagine this would be very easy to make. A flat island, Green textures for EVERYTHING including sky with consistant lighting. This way, you can throw stuff in it with the editor, capture it with FRAPS, then green screen it in a video editing software. The end result should be very cool. So someone up to make it? I'd greatly appreciate it, and i'm sure anyone other film makers here would enjoy using these techniques as well. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Wright 0 Posted March 30, 2004 actually I think it might be a little tricky to do, but possible. First you would need to make solid green skies, which could be done by using Kegetys hisky install, so maybe a mod folder could be used. Then you would have to make a solid green island which is easy enough. If you are far enough away from the water, you wouldn't have to change the water texture, which is a bit tougher. Consistent lighting may be tough as well, I'm not sure about how much the specular highlights would show up but it might be necessary to reinstall to an old version of ofp, pre-resistance, and I think the specular highlights would be gone. Guest Posted March 30, 2004 You would have to make it up as a mod, but that wouldn't be too difficult. What would be tricky finding the right time of day when the sky is evenly lit. I can help you with this, but in order to do so you will have to learn a little bit about editing....very easy, just how to stuff a pbo and make mod folders. Just do the battle in OFP, scripted of course, then plant the camera shots wherever you want them to be, and tadaaa... nice battle for you! VerySolidSnake 0 Posted April 11, 2004 my plan for the green screen though is to take these vehicals and place them in real live action with actors firing at or running away from vehicals, calling in bomb strikes. I think with ofp's models it can be done, i can do the tweaking in video editing software to make it look even more real. It would be a thrill to see ofp stuff in live action. -ZG-BUZZARD 0 Posted April 11, 2004 You know, I myself am going to have a small OFP MP LAN event, and one of the players is going to be a gmi camera tool civvy and another PC is going to record that one's A/V output (the observer machine is an AMD XP 2400 on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe and 1 gb of RAM, topped off with a Radeon 9800 Pro w/ 512 mb Ram, whilst the recording PC is a weaker AMD XP 1600+ on Asus Nforce 1, also 1 GB of Ram... and a Pinnacle Pro Video Card - so the resulting video shouldn't look bad, at all!!!). Then it's just editing that with Adobe Premiere (adding music & xtra fx) and export it to mpeg 2 or DivX... Maybe put it up on my site if I ever get around to remodelling THAT... VerySolidSnake 0 Posted April 12, 2004 so is there anyone up to making the totally green island? I can turn off shadows so lighting won't be a problem. I already have ideas for the first video which will be a OFP ad. It will start off with someone putting in the OFP cd, then opening the manual, as they flip through the pages they hear gunfire behind them and explosions. They see jets fly over their house so they run into their garage, and grab a moped and take off on the street, First turn onto the street a helicopter swoops low and follows them. They continue to go and a group of tanks block the path so they turn again. Tanks fire explosions everywhere, and they eventually stop the moped, step off and are totally surrounded by ofp soldiers and tanks. Camera zooms out and you find it was inside the guys head. Title "Yeah, it's kind of like that", camera zooms out more and u see the guy holding the manual with pissed pants. Title "Operation Flashpoint". So can someone make the island please??? VerySolidSnake 0 Posted April 13, 2004 haha, my bad, guess it didn't really register in the head when i read past it because i have no idea how to do it! I'm pretty busy now-a-days with film producing and wrapping up highschool that learning how to use oxygen for what seems a simple task would be pointless. It possible for one of you guys to throw together that huge box? maybe the box will also cover land for land units as well? I'm not to familiar with the tech side of ofp, but i am familiar on how to make things look cool again, credit will be given to where it is deserved, jsut let me know if you're up to it!
