I just had the idea to start a mod about the south african army.

You can take a look at BAS's Tonal and Tango pack, Bibmi's African Militia and Jungle Everon addons for starters.

Any new addons/mods/campaigns in this type of setting would be most welcome indeed!

For a Centurion tank I would recommend contacting T-Animal and using his un-binarized Centurion tank model as the basis for a "Oliphant" South African Centurion tank.

The main reason why nobody was doing South African stuff was because we though OFP2 was going to have a Angolan war or Rhodesian War section to it... but apparently (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that has disappeared from OFP2 and it will be more modern???

Whatever the case I'd be very happy if someone made some good South African wheeled armored vehicles. We already have Footmunch's South African Bucaneer. Just no South African infantry, helicopters, tanks, and APC's.

I especially would love to see some of their wheeled APC's which are in fact quite unique and very effective vehicles for African bush wars.

Yeah, OFP2 won't be in Africa at all anymore - or so we've been told.

The Malvinas mod has an AML-90 in the works, which could be a great Eland-90. At the very least, the turret would be useful for a Ratel-90.

Do you need anything right now? I can't texture or model to save my life, but I can get/scan drawings and pics.

Do you want to do modern South Africa or the Bush Wars of the '70s and '80s?

I have to go to work, so my I don't have much time to explain

eeehm, It is a modern mod and I mainly thought of ground vehicles! all those wheeled tanks (Eland, Okapi, Ratel, Rooikat<--wich is goming along nicely) and the mbt's

such as the olifant MK 1 A/B, and of corse infantery!

I do only have experiences in modelling with my programm, I can't texture and I don't understand O2

but I can build the modells!

sharing vehicles with other mods would be great as well!

so other ideas?

What I need so far are blueprints and lots of photos, I allready have got some, but no blueprints!

Sound as an good idea - your mod. I thought of making a Savannah island for ToW for the second part of the ToW story. Maybe we could work together then sharing objects.

Well, I think plastic model kits can help us out. I found these so far. It's 430am right now for me, so I'll email the guy when I wake up later and see what can be done. If worse comes to worse, I could always use a good excuse for building plastic models again. Even if it means, inevitably, that I destroy them out of spite halfway through.

I asked him if I could get scans or copies of the painting guides for his vehicles. Plastic model kits usually come with the three-way line drawings and I figure if we can get those, then modelling might be a bit easier. I know Klink's tutorial uses these kids of drawings, so maybe even I will be able to help out.

What weapons do they use? how do they look like, and so on...

Is there anyone out there who can edit soldier modells? because I can't ... or maybe someone can teach me ?!

The South Africans use the R-4 rifles, which are basically the exact same as an Israeli Galil, but with a slightly longer stock. They also use the SS-77 Machinegun, which is unique to South Africa, though some FN MAGs are still in use.
