jens198 0 Posted February 8, 2004 Hi folks, I saw a east german T-55 in the RHS-T55/64 pack. Are there any other GDR (German Democratic Republic) units around? Jens

fighter 0 Posted February 8, 2004 Hi friend :-) look this thread: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=35080 GAZMEN's modification of SDOC_UCEs units, GDR too
Tannethal 0 Posted February 10, 2004 The UCE east german units are unfortunaetly only reskins in "Einstrich-Keinstrich" cammo. The weapons to go with are properly named but only a limited fraction of what the NVA used. East Germany produced under sovjet license their very own and special AK47 and 74 variants. Most remarkably was a refinement of the AKM with folding stock, stamped metal parts and plastic handgrip, that was even 1kg lighter than the AKM. There were variants of the RPK too, with different barrel lengths. The parts were produced in Suhl and assembled in Wiesau. From there our peaceloving country exported them to anyone willing to pay. A lot went to Egypt and the Israelis got hold of some during the Jom Kimpur war in the seventies. @RHS guys: Wow thanks for that, BMPs and T72s in NVA markings sounds great! However the T55 seemed to have the NVA Insignia only on the IR searchlight on the turret front. It should also have them on the sides of the turret. S! MSpencer 0 Posted February 11, 2004 You're a bit confused. The NVA is the North Vietnamese Army...
coporal_punishment 0 Posted February 11, 2004 You're a bit confused. The NVA is the North Vietnamese Army... I taught NVA used t34s
cam0flage 0 Posted February 11, 2004 In this context, NVA stands for National Volksarmee. For those of you that do not speak German, it means something like National People's Army.
RTR_Commander 0 Posted February 11, 2004 However the T55 seemed to have the NVA Insignia only on the IR searchlight on the turret front. It should also have them on the sides of the turret. I would check out this site as it has pics on NVA vehicles: Vehicles of NVA It does show the T-55 and where the insignia should be on the turret altho a little hard to see
Peter_13 0 Posted February 11, 2004 All that pictures are of ex-NVA vehicles. Nearly all GDR insignia was removed from them.
