Well I'm very dissapointed. I'm going to be opening a new mod webpage for Operation Flashpoint soon.  A new Halo mod.  As much as I want to see a Star Wars mod, is about the same I want to see a Halo mod.

Alright everyone ..... reality caps on for a moment .

All the models , textures , sounds .... everything was a direct port from Halo PC .

As this wasnt a liscenced venture by Bungie to port the Halo world to Ofp then we can asume that at some stage it has been dealt with at a legal level .

Exactly the same deal as if someone buys a copy of VBS , and straight away ports the addons for use in Ofp .

In a sense it really doesn't matter if it was Xbox or PC. The fact is that some game companies as well as some movie companies are finding and in some cases, closing mods down, regardless of what game it is.

And I doubt it really was from Xbox, since why go through all the trouble in converting it from that format when you can get the PC version?

Because with the PC version the texture coordinates get screwed over.

Pity to hear MC lost intrest. I really think he screwed us over. I know I am not in the position to ask for anything, but WHY promise it, and then leave us rotting without any info? that's just bad.

Then post on the forum something like "I'm not allowed to release the mod, due to legal reasons".

One way to see, release the stuff, and see if Bungie request it be removed, this'll also see if MC also reads the forum (or talks to someone who does), if he complains, he's still remotely-active...

I really dont see why another Halo mod should be started when most of it's already done! The work MC/etc did onthat mod was amazing (The new sky-pack, islands, the flip-warthog, the islands etc etc, were all... )

But, if there's no way to get the stuff that's been done, I suppose it's the best way.

(Oh, about the legality of porting the Halo stuff to OFP, I REALLY doubt most companys will bother you porting their models aslong as : 1, you don't sell the mod, or otherwise make money outta it. 2, don't claim you made the models/textures)

Finaly, the models we're almost certainly from the Xbox version. It's realtivly easy if you have a moded xbox, you can just take the model/textures of the xbox via FTP, then I'm sure theres programs to convert them to 3DS or something. If you take the models from the PC version of halo, you get something that looks like this.. , so you have to retexture the stuff.. Not fun

They use different mapping types,OR you could make yur own sterling models and have nobody at all ride ya arse except for your own work....hm.....kind of a your screwed or your screwed or your not screwed situation.

They wouldnt bother you if you took the content  and adapted it / screwed with it , even transfered to another game

they still wouldnt bother you if you just took screenshots and posted them on the web saying " look what i did , ported from blah into blah "

But they would bother you if you took that material and made it available to others , free or otherwise .

I dont have an xbox , and so dont have access to the content , to do so i would need to purchase an xbox and then the game itself .... if the material is available for free , i can walk of with it without paying a penny .

Bungie and other similar companies would not stand for that type of revenue lost .

5. If anyone wants to finish some stuff, I might consider it. Most of the stuff was wrecked in my system crash, which is when I lost hope.

6. Sorry that I left you all hanging, but to be fair all you ever got was some screens and a couple vids, you never knew if it was fun or well done so you don't need to worry about what could have been. In fact I don't remember releasing anything, so technically I wasn't even a real modder.

7. If you spend a lot of time modding and you are really passionate about it, MAKE FUCKING BACKUPS EVERY DAY!!!!!! HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF YOUR LIFE CAN BE WASTED BY AN OLD HARDDRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7. Hello and goodbye to everyone, maybe I'll see you again during the winter months when I am in my room wrapped in a blanket, working quietly at my computer. I won't be back as Master_Chief probably, but I'll still have the memories of those (now wasted) months that I spent working on the Halo mod. Good to see that your not dead, but sorry to see that you wont work on the mod anymore or play OFP. I want to thank you though for all the hard work that you did, even though it didnt get released, but Im sure it took alot of hard work to do.
