Quote[/b] ]Authentic wreck. The car and the bike were coming from two opposite directions, the car

underestimated the bike's speed and made a left turn in front of it. The bike crashed literally

into the car - crazy_o.gif - which then flew up a meter into the air and overturned in mid-air. Biker

+ car driver + car passenger all died immediately.

I´ve been into a similar accident in the year 2000. I turned left to get onto an autobahn. The road i was driving on was leading over the autobahn, so there is a little bowbridge over it. This limited my sight on 150 m´s according to the hight curve of the bridge. A motorcycle driver drove over the bridge into my direction with a speed of 120 - 140 km/h as the specialists later found. I was not able to see him because of the sight limitations. I turned to the left, heading for the Autobahn and he crashed into my car at the point of my right front wheel. The Yamaha 4 XR he was riding smashed into my car and was only stopped by the motorblock that has been ripped out of the car. The driver hit the window frame from the right side and totally smashed into it. He had his kid on the sozius. The kid was catapulted over him and landed 30 m´s behind my car on the road. The car and motorcycle went on fire instantly and I was unconcious in the car as the side impact made my head smash into sidewindow and stearing wheel. I can´t say how long I was unconsious but when I woke up I felt like in a nightmare. The inner right side of the car was burning and I had no idea what had happened. I can´t remember how I got out of the car. My memory is missing some parts there. I thought my car has been hit by a tank. All was burning and I had no idea what was going on. I found the driver of the motorcycle lying next to my car and pulled him away from the fire. I can´t remember what he looked like. He had no face anymore as he had a Jet-helmet only with no face protection. His limbs were not coherent and I guess he was instantly dead. At least that´s what the autopsy said. It took me some minutes to realize that there was another victim on the street. As it was night I didn´t find the kid at once. He was lying 30m´s away from the location of the accident and only had a broken leg and minor bruises.

After 10 minutes my car was completely burned out, although firefighters were extremely fast at the location. If I had not woken up in time, I would have got burned in my car.

The experts hired by court to check the accident found out that the man was going way too fast. I had no chance of seeing him as it only took him 1.6 secionds to approach me with the speed they determined from car and motorcycle destruction and traces on road.

The speed limit at the bridge is 80km/h and he exceeded the limit by 60 km/h.

My speed was estimated with 15- 20 km/h as I was turning left into a 90 degrees curve.

I was taken to hospital and checked for alcohol and drugs as this is standard procedure. I had cuts over my head from the glass and a head traumata from the impacts. My right arm was slightly burned from the burning car.

I was cleared from manslaughter charges and was found not-guilty as there was nothing I could have done to prevent the accident.

Now why do I write this here ?

Take care guys, if you ride a motorcycle you´ll never win against a car and you risk the life of car passengers and yours if you do drive in a way like that. If my girlfriend had been with me, like it was planned, she would have been killed. I was very lucky not to burn to death in the car.

Take this into consideration when you get onto your motorcycle, as I do it. I also ride my motorbike but my attitude towards it has changed alot since then.

Car crashes are pretty nasty.. I was walking home after a night out when a car got out of control and crashed into the corner of a concrete wall just a few meters from me. A few thousand thoughts went through my head the split of a second before it crashed. The passanger flew out through the front window and driver was squeezed between the seat and the roof.

There were lots of blood at the scene.. I thought I would freak out if I saw something like that but surprisingly I was calm. I called for an ambulance and checked if the guys were even alive. Luckily both guys survived but at least the driver who was a promising football player is totally paralyzed now.

That pic reminds me of it.. the car in that accident was also red and the same type of model.

I agree, be careful when you ride a motorcycle. Though most of the time it is the automobile that is at fault and not the motorcyclist. Most people dont pay attention when they are at the wheel so when you drive a motorcycle pretend you are invisble and you will be a little safer(I only ride my motorcycles on country roads and never in the city). I'm not saying you wasn't paying attention bals, 60 km/h over the limit was retarded on the other guy's part.

Got some pics here, been meaning to post for a while.

Scenery in Scotland:

underbrig2.jpg

Underneath a bridge near where I grew up (or not:P)

viewbrigtop.jpg

On top of a bridge near where I grew up. I know someone who rode a moped over the arches. Mentalist.

driodsville.jpg

The ruined cathedral/ monastry thing in St Andrews.

alcoholdanger.jpg

The day after a serious drinking session. After falling on your face because you are too drunk to stand, raise face OFF ground before trying to run again. And watch out for doors.

SA80A1.jpg

My old shooting team rifle. very reliable, for an A1, and considering how battered it was before I got it.

Scenery en route to the furthest North and West point on the UK mainland.

capewrath2.jpg

Ditto

capewrath3littlewindy.jpg

Tents, where we stayed for a while. Non-tactical shoot. (as in; no camoflage used) VERY windy. The mess tent still blew away despite all the ropes and sandbags. It was too windy to fire for days.

capewrath4.jpg

A few hundred rounds on high charge + extremely soft ground = big hole. All the mortars were at least this deep by the end of the shoot. Had to dig down beside it to get at the sight, and also dig a trench to see the aiming post through the sight. Ended up well above the muzzle when firing, and very close to it. Blast ripped my helmet cover off, and I scorched all the hair on the back of my neck. Fun though. N.B. - This is not my mortar - its another det's one, but the holes are pretty much the same.

The guys are unhappy because they know they are going to have to dig the thing out soon. It took a long time.

Another mortar shoot, this time in England. Snow. Storms. Cold. No gloves allowed. This is setting up of the mortars, which is why noone is wearing helmets or webbing, and the brown boxes behind are ammunition boxes. Photo waas taken at about 6 AM

otterburn2.jpg

My det, my mortar. Ammunition has not been conditioned yet (taken out of the packaging and made ready to fire), which is why its not there.

otterburn3.jpg

Firing a round. HE in this case. We are bedding in, which is why we are standing on the baseplate and legs and why the sight is off.

apacheotterburn.jpg

We were not the only ones using the training area....

apachesotterburn.jpg

In fact the car park was quite full.

Where are the pics?

I now have a scar running through my eyebrow, and a darker patch on my cheekbone. Really not noticable though. They do show up more when its really cold or when I'm drunk.
