blackdog~ 0 Posted August 26, 2004 3 o clock... BMP, 50 (since they can't go any lower :P) Those BMP's aren't THAT small... about the size of a crew-cab pickup.... but those MTLB's look like they were shmooshed into a pancake! more pics next weekend. Pendleton has all the cool captured russian stuff including a URAL (just like in OFP, and it has a fake MK82 peircing through the cab... hehe), multiple MTLB's, BMP, AA gun's, arty pieces, shilka, 2S1 artillery... very cool stuff. and i haven't even explored everything yet... ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 29, 2004 I really need to eat before I see this thread.(or ban ppl for posting delicious food pics ) Anyhow, here are some of selected pictures from my trip to San Francisco and Bay Area in late June. BART(Bay Area Rapid Transit) system I used. The entrance of the Chinatown. they had some movie shooting there at the time(Three wishes was the name, IIRC) Exploratorium Pier 39. Trollie turnaround at Powell street. $3 for each way per person.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 29, 2004 Union Square Golden Gate bridge from Trollie turnaround. Marina near above picture, 4 hours or so later. Hot fudge from Ghiradelli square, one of many reasons why I gained 5 pounds by end of the trip.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 29, 2004 Gentlemen, welcome to the Rock. Eastern part Graffitti from Native American's 60s protest How a cell would look like Seagulls resting. What you don't see in this picture is that there was a decomposing body of another seagul about 3 feet away from me. Now this is the REAL shower room of Alcatraz. The one you see in the movie 'The Rock' is NOT the real one. Also, the movie was made in restricted areas such as hospitals(where Ed Harris's character gets shot as 2 Marines turn into mercenaries). The old structures. Alcatraz was orignally built as a fort, later became the prison.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 29, 2004 Angel Island dock. This island was Army base, quaranteen center, Chinese Immigration stop(more like prison). Cannon battery site facing entrance of the Bay. John Muir National Monument. One of hidden places to go in Bay Area.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted August 29, 2004 Stinson beach, just off the Muir woods. It's fun to go there since the road is windy, and I had fun driving like a nut.
blackdog~ 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Gee Ralph, five posts in two minutes? Nice jail too. Some of the people on these forums belong in a cell :P (who will remain unnamed) Edit: And with the current housing prices in SF and in most of California, I bet those jailcells cost at least $400,000 each
