Soldier on leave strikes it rich

Recommended Posts

What the heck would I do with $150 mil? I don't really care about cars, money isn't going to get you a cool chick (a hot one, yes), and there are a lot of better causes out there that need the money. I'd give the vast majority of it to a wildlife/nature charity and maybe keep some for me so that I never have to work for anyone else. And so that I could afford to go back to school for a new degree. And I'd probably pay off my parents' mortgage.

So, I'd keep maybe $2 million, the rest would go directly to purchasing huge swaths of the Amazon to protect it from loggers. And I'd probably donate some money to the aquarium here in Chicago so that they could house some big sharks. I'll call it "The Hellfish Gallery of Hellishly Large Fish with Hellishly Large Teeth." smile_o.gif

Exactly, what would a regular Joe do with 150$ million dollars? I would do the same, save a million or two to finance me during my education. And probably pay off the parents car and house. I'd probably buy mom one of those BMW 4x4's aswell... And dad would get a Alfa Romeo GTV 1975 model in pristine condition. The rest would go to getting my sister books for her time at univeristy and buying her a laptop. Then of course buying up patches of land in territories threatened by man. And I would also buy large ammounts of land in Africa and start a poacher free wildlife reserve.

end up with a bankrupt or not is depended on the person who won it, for those 20% who dont bankrupt, i bet that most of them are the kind which dont like showing off, or they are smart enought to use those money in a effective way............

(i wonder why only most people who would only waste money like water win those lottey................)

It is just that sometimes I am sad and ashamed of being human. Seeing what people are doing for profit, alright most poachers are poor but still no excuse for killing animals that have never harmed a human being. Sorry for going off-topic here smile_o.gif

P.S Now let's discuss what we would do with smaller fortunes, I.E a hundred thousand dollars or atleast ten thousand D.S

Well one can never be 100% sure. But if I bought the land many organizations would probably fund concrete fences. If I couldn't do it myself with the 150 million that is tounge_o.gif Then I would also employ armed guards to patrol the fence perimiter. Really sorry for going off-topic again.

ontopic: If I won say ten thousand dollars (76,002 Swedish crowns) I'd buy myself a nice used car, and a spanking new computer. Then buy my sister a Tungsten C handheld. Then I'd spend the rest on helping farmers to build fenced to protect their pastures against wolves. So that they do not have to shoot the wonderful animals to protect their cattle.

I doubt is hospitable Mugabe would let you in G00b .... and protecting the Wildlife is indeed a noble task smile_o.gif

Though i think WWF is doing a fairly good job at it.

As for the lottery i'd give it all away to re-habilitate (sp) Palestinians inside SA or something similiar , or give it away in Somalia where famine causes large amounts of deaths.

And save some for a new PC btw tounge_o.gif

While we're talking about it, I'd do lots with 150 million U.S.D. in my bank account:

[*]I'd give some to my parents, my grandma, and my sister.

[*]I'd buy one hell of a nice house near a tropical beach somewhere, maybe Hawaii, and invite my friends to stay over. Then I'd get a nice ranch somewhere in Alberta or Wyoming, in the middle of nowhere.

[*]I'd pay off my university debts.

[*] I'd get a pilots license and buy a nice plane, maybe a Learjet.

[*] Buy large amounts of firearms and start up a nice collection. Maybe even build my own 800m rifle range, and an indoor pistol range.

[*] I'm not a big car fan, maybe I'd buy a nice BMW.

[*] And last but not least, rent some popular porn stars to keep me ocupied every now and then. tounge_o.gif

Even if I was rich I don't think I would quit the army, at least not for a while. But if I was in that guys shoes, I definately wouldn't go back to Iraq.

Sorry, I don't believe you for a second. biggrin_o.gif No way... there are very few people in the world who would to that.

I would not give it away, but I would not keep it frozen either, at least spend it over a lifetime. By freezing large sums of money we simply make life much harder for the average working man. I would have to think about charities etc. there are many many important causes to donate money to, medical, space, humanitarian, wildlife, endless list... 150M certainly would not stretch that far. How about we beat up Bill Gates and donate that money to something. wink_o.gif

What, you have a jetta? 125Mph, hmm, and that means... rock.gif you like Germans, ah yes. wink_o.gif

I already give away a good chunk of my paycheck to environmental charities. Having more money won't change that.

I made a vow a long time ago to never again support a social charity, though you do mention donating to a space charity. That's a good idea. I'd probably do it as more of an investment, though - like support one of those teams going for that X-Prize (I think it's called).

Hm.... this is getting a bit too OT, and I'm probably to blame for that. So, apologies all around and I'll make an example of my bad behavior and close this puppy down.
