Snypa UK 0 Posted September 30, 2003 ive finally cracked... OFP resistance is the greatest game ive played but when i play it for long times it seems to get slower and slower until it freezes. The box says it only needs the same specs as OFP CWC (whick works fine very well) but it is slow and jerky ive tuened off every other prgrm except systray and explorer and it still doesnt work. why is it so slow and how can i improve it pls!! i love resistance but i will end up throwing the disk out of the window soon
Placebo 12 Posted September 30, 2003 The box says it only needs the same specs as OFP CWC Sorry that's wrong, (my box at least), says "Minimum system requirements are equivalent to the original Flashpoint recommended specifications", so you need more grunt to run Opf:R than Opf. And you need to post your complete system specs to get any kind of technical support. If it's getting slower over time sounds like you're lacking ram and it's slowing down as the system uses more ram, if you're using win98/ME that's even worse as those are really bad for freeing up used ram. Heatseeker 0 Posted October 1, 2003 With me its the other way around, when i start opf it runs a bit jumpy for 15 seconds and then after my usual look left/right up and down usual exercise it runs good, i can play it for hours with great performance, strange game it is . That sounds like windows swapping out memory into the virtual memory file. Quite normal.
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 1, 2003 ^^ Yes but i dont remember this being so noticeable (spl ) in pre-resistance version of the game? Sry for stealing the thread, i remember performance loss when OPF came out, i had a 800mhz with 128 mg ram back then it would start to crawl after short time playing, performance improved dramatically with a extra stick of ram, posting your specs could really help determine your problem Snypa uk . Snypa UK 0 Posted October 1, 2003 128mb ram 1000mhz athlon processor geforce 5200 card
theavonlady 1 Posted October 1, 2003 The small amount of RAM you have is hardly enough for OFP CWC, let alone for Resistance. Suggest you move up to 512MB. It will make a world of a difference.
Placebo 12 Posted October 1, 2003 128mb ram As I predicted, and as Avon suggests, you clearly lack ram, it's dirt cheap so you should go up to at least 512mb, will make a big difference
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 1, 2003 As I predicted, and as Avon suggests ehem aint we forgeting someone . Yes, getting more ram will improve overall performance of the game and speed up loading/saving times, just be sure to buy the same type of ram if you gonna keep the stick you already have .
