As if it wasnt enough with Swedish named Hurricanes. Now there's a new virus called "Swen". Apparently it comes with a fake e-mail from Microsoft.

It makes you wonder if people still falls for these viruses? You'ld have to be pretty dense to fall for a virus like this again.

But names like Gustav, Karl, Lisa and Ingrid etc . Hell the list is dominated by Swedish names.

Maybe this is all a part of some evil plot. Soon we'll see evil Swedes in Hollywood movies then we'll become the Pariah of the World .

Guess they'll have to dust off Max Von Sydow then ;).

Yeah, I think I've gotten a few of these in the last few days.  They actually did a pretty good job of making it look like the MS website, but MS never sends any email so its pretty obviously a fake.  It was entitled "New Security Upgrade" and has a exe attached to it. Though Outlook says it blocked the "potentially unsafe attatchment".

I wouldn’t say that Swen is a typical Swedish name, Sven perhaps is but not Swen. Sounds like a German name to me

Maybe I made it sound like I wasn’t sure Sven was the Swedish name but I’m a Swede myself Its just that I don’t know many (none I can think of right now) people called Sven. Many of the names connected to Sweden (used in American movies and such) aren’t very typical Swedish names. I cant remember anyone mentioning a Swede called Fredrik, Magnus, Mattias… its always Sven, Karl, Hans or other names that sounds more German then Swedish to me.

To be honest the difference between german and swedish names isn't that big, as far as I know.

Yes but there is a way to stop these "people". Join the community of spam blocking email servers (to name what we use would be breaking a law :S ) Commercialisme in that manner will be the death of the internet. 60% of emails (and im being optimistic here) is unsollicited spam. There should be death penalties for spam and ppl who host popups. They are actively killing the internet.

I never could've imagined that as much as 60% of e-mail is spam I've never received a spam message. On second thought I have maybe 4 times. A Green Card ad: "Do you want to become a cirizen of the United States? Get your Green Card now" And some road service ad telling me that if my car get's stuck in the middle of the road they'll come and save me. "Available in the whole US region"
