Arma 2 OA server.... how do set one up....

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Back in the day I managed to get a pal to play on a mission on a server on out LAN.

But that was a long time ago and I can't remember how we did it etc etc.

Two things:

1) Set up multiple PC's to run a mission over LAN. (  My pal is going to be the camera man in game for our Machinima short...)

2) Run a MP mission on my PC so I can play it ( this requires a server I hear...)

I want to try out various old MP mods/missions on my own server etc....

UAC DayZ  , Namalsk Crisis etc etc. Just for kicks,  Dazyz Vanilla ...

Now that fricking steam has it's claws into ArmA in a death grip etc etc etc I suspect

that some things have changed...

Or maybe things are ok ?

Please don't just make a huge list of links that may or maynot work, or have links that are dead etc etc.

It's annoying to say the least. I know the party has long since moved on ... But I wish to look at

some of the old mods/missions for the novelty value and interest.

Cheers.

George.

If you want to play on LAN you don't need to create a dedicated server, just host the mission on LAN and the other PC joins the mission that you host, it's that simple, there's no need to go around in circles.

If you have problems with the ports, these are the ones you should open.
Open ports 2302 to 2305

If you want...

As I was strolling by I noted you had replied to my call for help... BUT I only notice by accident and because you had not

quoted me I didnae get an alert. Or something.

Will read your advice.

Does anyone else answer questions round here ???

In ArmA 2, almost not. If there is some scripting or warfare, you will see @opusfmspol appear from time to time, but generally you will see me.
Unfortunately for you... I know, I will always repeat the same thing to you, I will be your personal nightmare, read and search, search and read...:icon_bash: and I will give you the links that you love so much.🤣
PD: But you can't complain too much, I fulfilled one of your whims with the random landing practice mission.

You did. I still don't know how you did it... but that may change of course.

Di I mention my Mini Lathe I am rebuilding ? I would post pics but... I don't use Imgur... and it's got

not very much to do with ArmA ... except I am using it to fab my joystick and collective.

Making spindles.

I'm going to try and get UAC Dayz to work. I bet I can't. Lets see...

Cheers!

George.

I get what you're saying about Steam making things trickier, but honestly, you can still run LAN missions by hosting a dedicated server on your own PC—I've done it a few times myself when I wanted to mess around with some old mods. Just go into the ArmA launcher, set up the server, and have your friend join using your IP. It works fine for most old mods, including stuff like DayZ and Namalsk Crisis. I’ve had to tweak a few things here and there, but as long as you find the right versions, you can still get it all working for a fun nostalgia trip.
