I forgot to ask, will the new Deltas/Rangers and Littlebirds be compatible with missions made using the old ones? So that you won't have to replace the individual units in your old missions. I suppose the changes are too drastic to allow for this though....

I was wondering, will the new BAS silenced rifles have the realistic sonic boom of the rounds breaking the sound barrier?

Also, are there any significant efforts by BAS to make effective AT weapons like the Javelin that is usable by the AI.

Even Delta's and Rangers must prepare for the possibility of long range attacks from IFV's and MBT's.  I know the Digital Grenade pack did a Javelin, but only the player can use it.  If BAS could make this where the AI could target and fire it effectively, that would be a greater gift than updated Rangers and Delta units.

Anyways, get back to me on this when you have time BAS.

If you're smart, you'll be shooting subsonic rounds with a suppressed gun .

Until DM sheds some more light on the matter, here's what I've seen:

The short answer is yes, based on my limited mission editor playtesting. However, if you try and edit the unit, it will change to another default BAS unit. Also, you don't have certain features that you would otherwise...

Only specially designed semi-auto sniper rifles, bolt action sniper rifles, and specially made automatic rifles can shoot subsonic rifle rounds.

The standard m4's, and even most of the SOF m4's cannot shoot subsonic 5.56mm rounds because it won't cycle the chamber properly due to not enough gas sent to the piston that cycles the bolt back and then forward to push the round in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain this is accurate.

You guys (BAS) aren't concidering making a really weel done jet plane? I mean somthing to go with all the great choppers. I think this would be great.

There are very many well made modern combat planes, but not any have got the standarn youre addons has got.

Only one great modern combat airplane would be great.

Just a tought...

In my opinion the jets are better handled by other addon teams and makers. Like FootMunch, Hardrock and all the other excellent fixed wing aircraft makers.

I would however want to see a new A10 done as a component of the desert pack, perhaps with the aid of Footmunch, Hudson/Pennywise etc. But for now I think BAS have their hands full of goodies to give us in the not so distant future and I am really happy with the projects they have announced so far. And if I know them there are alot to come after the already announced ones aswell

OK - old missions:

NONE of the new addons will break old missions (it took a fair bit of coding, and the NEW Deltas/Rangers (with JAM) have a new set of codes (like "BAS_JRanger" etc) )

Old missions will still work with the new De/Ra, as Gator has said, they will have the shiny new models, but they will not have the shiny new features (like JAM'ed weapons etc)

As for new AT weapons etc, whats in the pack is done, if you want anything else we can cancel BAS Week, but you don't want that right?

Like I said in my interview, this is an INTERIM update, aimed mainly at JAMming the weapons, and updating the soldier models.

There is some new content in the De/Ra pack, but it is only a few weapons.

About silenced M4's. Our specialist (who was on the US Army development team for the M4 SOPMOD system) says that the M4's can, and are regularly loaded with sub-sonic ammo for use with sound supressors. As for sounds and weapon values, they now use JAM. (although the old BAS values still exist)

About aircraft: Like Tigershark has said, sorry but no.

About the server move: Yup, it should be complete by the end of the week

Hey there

Thanks for the reply Tigershark, its good to see that the their will be sum more missions, my only gripe with the littlebirds was the ranger/littlebird mission, i still needed to put in the TJP pavehawk and then the end cutscene wouldnt work lol.

As for all the questions on can you make this?....You should make this!!.....

lets just wait and see what they have for us next week and then well pummel them with questions.

About aircraft: Like Tigershark has said, sorry but no.

I think it would be a nice addition to your plane collection if there was a C-130 for refueling the choppers - my understanding it is a quite normal component in the US SPEC OPS airsupport composition - have you thought about cooperating with someone else on such a project?
