I noticed there have been some problems with people making too many reply's posts due to technical issues (I had it before as well), is this matter being looked into or not? smile_o.gif

Yes, I will amend the rules, people must now count to 47 before making a reply wink_o.gif

I assume you mean server spasms resulting in double posts? I don't think it's that much of a problem is it? Happens from time to time, I'll keep an eye out smile_o.gif

Hmm actually you got a point with the counting bit,

IIRC on some forums you can set the minimum amount of time between 2 posts (10/20 secs or so).

Doesn't ikonboard have such a function? that would prevent these unwanted "spammings" and thus reducing the workload on Moderators wink_o.gif

Well I mean to set it at a lower value like 10 or so, long enough for people not making mistakes with the technical errors and short enough to prevent people from getting annoyed smile_o.gif

The Problem with people posting like 8 identical posts is that when they press the "Add Reply" button they come to a "Error 500" Page. They click back and add the reply again. I've noticed that even if you get the error page, the message has been posted. It has happend me once or twice.

Or is this a different thing?

The 500-error is a database error. Usually the post will be posted and the floodcontrol does'nt work while that error appears. Nothing we can do about that.

I have no problem with the floodcontrol. I'm blessed from that biggrin_o.gif

I'm fortunate in that my wireless internet connection only allows one post every 20 mins when other people in the town are using the internet mad_o.gifbiggrin_o.gif

From here...

Also, do NOT discuss the video in question. Its a violation of forum rules. This is a warning.. I have eliminated all reference to it in the thread.

Which rule is violated by discussing the video, considering the link that led me to it remains quite intact?  rock.gif

Quote[/b] ]§2.5)No posting of explicit images

No posting of pictures containing porn, real killing, mutilations, wounds, carnage, and other disgusting/explicit images. This also includes links to pages that contain such images. There have been a number of incidents where people have linked to news sites which unbeknownst to them contains obscene images a few mouse clicks away, while we can't expect people to check every link on a site it is strongly suggested that whenever making a post about a news item the post is structured in a way that provides the information without risk of breaching the rules. A good example of how to do this can be seen below. If you're ever unsure as to whether or not a link should be posted on the forum feel free to PM a moderator for guidance.

The link hasn't worked for me, so I can't confirm anything. And either way, it was OT.

1.  I posted no links at all.

2.  I know, acknowledged and even appologised that it was OT, but merely wanted some direction to any thread where it may have already been discussed.  Denoir obliged and that side topic was closed.

3.  I sent a PM to Placebo (who was in the thread a short time earlier) asking if the footage was too graphic to reference directly.  Got no reply.  Yes, i know mods can be busy elsewhere but you should know that I tried.

Sorry Hellfish6, but I still don't understand why asking where an incident may have already been discussed elsewhere breaks the above rule especially when that incident is depicted in footage found at a site still linked by someone else that, as you say, cannot even be verified.

rock.gif

Edit:  Ya know, it's just occurred to me that the entire event could be recreated using OFP.  The only missing element would be the one civilian waving a piece of cloth in surrender, just before being greased.  I wonder if that would violate any rules.

1. I realize you didn't post links. I was referring to what you were referring to - one of Albert's links.

2. Yes.. which is why I didn't delete Denoir's thread.

3. Yes, the footage is too graphic.

You can discuss the footage - as Denoir mentioned. But as it was OT for the thread in question AND if there is indeed a link in one of Albert's threads, and if I can't limit access to it, I will attempt to remove references to it. If I could have seen the link to it, I'd remove one of Albert's links. But as I can't see anything, I did what I thought was the next best thing - removing references to the fact that there's a link leading to it.

And this is nothing personal at all Bernadotte - I have hardly had any interaction with you at all on the forums (if any) and I was merely attempting to enforce the rules as best I could.

Not taken personally at all, mate. smile_o.gif

I just needed a little human assistance when entering plow pointed to some 300 page threads. I just don't want to step on any admin toes if/when such questions arise again.

What would be the verdict on a plain old "Amusing things" thread?.....The thing is, there is nowhere to post things like jokes, funny cartoons/pictures, funny quizzes ect at the moment because if you post them in the general forum, its pretty much spamming and it will get locked. If you were to focus it all into one thread however........ wink_o.gif

I don´t think that OFP forums are a stage for Jerry Lewis or such biggrin_o.gif

It´s still a warsim , not a cartoon channel tounge_o.gif

I agree with the Bavarian Battlesmurf wink_o.gif

Joke/ funny offtopic threads are just a waste of resources, we have enough threads for people to read, if they want to be amused they can go elsewhere biggrin_o.gif

On the other hand, a little humour could help break some of the tension that all too often forms......this forum can become a warsim in itself tounge_o.gif

Since forever. I've gotten the message 52 times now.

First of all, I guess the warning boxes never go away... rock.gif

Second, placebo posted a link to this video and it shows footage of a man being shot by a helicopter guncam... doesn't that qualify as disturbing? I know people have been whipped and beaten over the other helicopter guncam footage where the three guys run away and stuff..
