Bernadotte 0 Posted August 31, 2003 Surprised there's been no feedback about the "new" rules yet, obviously you're all very happy with them which is good to know  Are there any significant changes?  If so, what are they?
Placebo 29 Posted August 31, 2003 There are quite number of changes and some additions, every member should reacquaint themselves with all of the rules themselves to be aware of the changes/additions. The most notable one is probably change to signature rules, which is going to result in the fluffy bunny being seen a lot more on the forums.
Bernadotte 0 Posted August 31, 2003 In an effort to be helpful and for those of us who don't have an original set of rules with which to compare and find changes, here's one of the more significant changes: Quote[/b] ]3. Rules of Format§8)Remove image tags when quoting a post containing an image If you quote a post that contains an image please remove the image tag so that the link is posted not the image, it helps keep the thread tidy and easier to read if the same image isn't being posted repeatedly, you need only delete one [ to stop the image from hotlinking. Placebo, is it asking too much for the new or changed rules to be italicised, coloured or made bold?
theavonlady 2 Posted August 31, 2003 We need multi-user collaberation forum software here, don't we!
Placebo 29 Posted August 31, 2003 Well personally I don't see the need to know what is an old rule, what is a new rule, the simple fact is they're all to be considered current rules. If it's a help though you can find the old rules here I haven't gotten around to updating that part yet
Milkman 1 Posted August 31, 2003 Spelling error: Quote[/b] ]§9)Do not post images over 100kb (102400 bytes) in sizePlease do not post individual images over 100kb so that the forum remains a smooth place to browse for everyone, irrespective of their internet connection. If you wish to post an image larger then 100 kb feel free to post the URL instead. Notice the extra Italic tag. Just thought I let you know, so the form looks for imposing. You know, the only thing missing from this forum is a Grammar Nazi. What is a Grammar Nazi you ask? Grammar Nazi is defined: Grammar Nazi (n)- One who corrects spelling and punctuation errors by other board members with un-dying will. Usually has Moderator status, posts the corrections to a other members poor writing to inform the member of their mistakes, and asks them to correct accordingly. While annoying at times, a grammar nazi can really clean up a forum. No more "ahahaah lol!!1!!11! tat is so funy!" Or "H3y wtf is w/ teh L0s3R???"
Placebo 29 Posted August 31, 2003 Hardly fair on those who don't have English as a first language, however most times they put to shame some of the forum members who do.

blackdog~ 0 Posted September 5, 2003 <embed src="test.jp2"> Any chance we can get a tag for this, because HTML doesn't work... Example: [JP2]test.jp2[/JP2]
bn880 5 Posted September 5, 2003 Hardly fair on those who don't have English as a first language, however most times they put to shame some of the forum members who do. I think he means why not correct some of the big grammar or spelling errors, especially ones that people repeat constantly. It's only helpful to people who don't have English as a first language, and the rest also. Actually I have been the Spelling Nazi a few times when Denoir was moderator, he fixed some of the really terrible forum topic typos, and there are always more. Renagade 0 Posted September 6, 2003 Surprised there's been no feedback about the "new" rules yet, obviously you're all very happy with them which is good to know  well seeing as u asked, First of all wouldn`t it be better to re-title the off topic forum to something like "Debate forum". Off-topic gives ppl the wrong ideas. The eplicit imgaes rule could be tweaked. For example if i posted one of the pictures of a fried iraqi during the first gulf war, without mentioning it was infact someone who got fried, it would look like a stage prop made out of paper mache` but i would fall foul of this rule. Or perhaps the NWS tag like in the somethingawful forums(bit like the old off topic forum here except over there u need to pay to use the forum ) The point im making is that what happens if the picture is not graphic but the meaning behind it is

Major Fubar 0 Posted September 6, 2003 Yes, but Offtopic isn't just for debates. Although quite a few of the topics ARE debates, certainly not all are... Quote[/b] ]Off-topic forum is here so that you can discuss things that are somewhat related to the game, but not about the game itself. The forum subtitle reads:"about wars, military conflicts and everything what pertinent to Army" Even if this forum section is called Offtopic, it is still part of Operation Flashpoint discussion board - and any topics that are completely unrelated to OFP can be closed or deleted. We see no reason why we should dedicate our bandwidth and hosting space to such discussions. If you want to talk about something else or about nothing at all, there is plenty of spaces on the web where you can do it (like public chat rooms, some newsgroup or IRC). When I can speak two or three languages I would feel comfortable correcting other people's English, but as I don't I feel it would be arrogant and improper, anyways it's kinda sweet to see people using "loose" instead of the opposite of win
blackdog~ 0 Posted September 6, 2003 When OFP2 is released what is going to happen to the offtopic board?
The Frenchman 0 Posted September 6, 2003 When OFP2 is released what is going to happen to the offtopic board? Yeah is it going to have its own sub catagory in between OFP and OFP2?
theavonlady 2 Posted September 7, 2003 When OFP2 is released what is going to happen to the offtopic board? Yeah is it going to have its own sub catagory in between OFP and OFP2? Why should it? I mean, I understand separate TS, ME, GENERAL forums, etc. but a separate OT forum?

shadow 6 Posted September 10, 2003 I guess the mods will have their work cut out when OFP2 is released ;) I assume alot of the OFP1-forums will be closed. Personally I don't see any future for mission-editing and addons-making for OFP1 when OFP2 has been released Same goes for the troubleshooting. We'll just have to wait and see.... sanctuary 19 Posted September 12, 2003 A question about the BIS forum in general Judging by the date of the first posts in the bottom of this page of this BIS Operation Flashpoint forum http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....how=255 I wonder for how long this game has been in development Personally I don't see any future for mission-editing and addons-making for OFP1 when OFP2 has been released  Same goes for the troubleshooting. I dont think everybody is upgrading their system following the new videogame requirement , so there are chance that several people will continue to play the game or make mission editing and will have troubleshooting questions, as i doubt OFP2 will have the same system requirement as OFP (Resistance already need a very good system, if you want to use most of the best visual quality adition). For addon making , i think you are right , not  lot of addon maker will continue to work on the first OFP , when OFP2 will be released.
