sanctuary 16 Posted May 12, 2003 Bah , the O.I.C.W. is so old and ugly now that a new prototype has been released in Sanctuary Weapon Shop The M.W.F.A. ( Mad Weapon From Asylum ) is ready to invade future battlefield Ok , future soldier will have to take a lot of steroids to move this weapon and must have a third arm to manipulate the keyboard when aiming and shooting, but that are the only bad parts of this M.W.F.A. But the best side is that OFP2 is installed by default on all this M.W.F.A. serie , so even bored soldier can find this weapon usefull in non combat situation

Commander-598 0 Posted May 12, 2003 I think HL2 might have it. In the screens I saw, I saw soldiers with something that looked pretty similar at least.

Harnu 0 Posted May 12, 2003 M4 seems way more comfortable for useage. I just couldn't see OICW's in the field except for being a weapon used to support movements.

Airwolf 13 Posted May 14, 2003 the final version of the OICW will not even look like that, it bear more of a resembalense to a styer, except much more smooth and streamlined
Badgerboy 0 Posted May 14, 2003 Yes, but when you add a computer assisted, automatic 20mm grenade launcher to a wepaon, it tends to get a little large. Giant Aug's for all then!
BronzeEagle 2 Posted June 6, 2003 I recently made a gun for flashpoint called the morcarb anti-mech pulse rifle and you fire it at armor and it shoots straight through, multiple shots heat up the armor and when the lazer touches solid matter it smokes it up. It's a real blast to use. One time I shot this tank on full auto and the turret melted, no explosion, and everyone inside was dead. Head on over to the starship troopers mod site in a few days and its yours. Anyhow, I thought we'd be using lazers by now. I just can't see the need for a more creative way to kill people using a rifle. I mean, we've done everything to the rifle.

USSoldier11B 0 Posted June 6, 2003 Haven't handled an OICW. No opinion, nor should anyone else that hasn't used both weapons have one. I do like the M4A1 a great deal more than the M-16A2 though

Badgerboy 0 Posted June 7, 2003 Everyone knows that the M4 whips the OICW. Â Oh and Blashciow, I'm not impressed. I trust you've fired both the M4 and the OICW to make your judgement? Ever used a weapon in a combat zone? Do some basic research into the application of lasers, and you'll find out why they are not feasible as infantry/portable weapons yet. But I'm sure you experience in operating and firing guns in computer games gives you distinct insights into high powered laser weaponry.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted June 7, 2003 Did anyone else notice how dumb this poll was to begin with? I mean, how can you compare a carbine with a battle rifle/cannon?
Commander-598 0 Posted June 7, 2003 An example of a Battle Rifle is an M1 Garand and an M14. A powerful round and a reliable weapon. The OICW is no Battle Rifle.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted June 7, 2003 Sorry about the slip in nomenclature. You are correct.
Badgerboy 0 Posted June 8, 2003 I believe its slated as a 'Battle Support Rifle'. It's been discussed as taking over from the SAW,and providing a direct and indirect squad support weapon role.
Renagade 0 Posted June 8, 2003 If it was just a 20mm battle cannon then it would be something The OICW reminds me of a SMAW in reverse .
USSoldier11B 0 Posted June 8, 2003 Quote[/b] ]An example of a Battle Rifle is an M1 Garand and an M14. A powerful round and a reliable weapon. The OICW is no Battle Rifle. A man after my own anal-retentive heart. I'd say that last true battle rifles were the M-14. The HK 91/93 and FN-FAL. Everything currently fielded as the standard infantry rifle is considered an "assault rifle." However, the M4 is for some reason misnomered as a carbine, which technically it is not. A true carbine is a short barreled, stocked weapon chambered in what is normally a pistol round. (Un-necked and lower velocity) Larger than an SMG. I.E. The Ruger Deerfield Carbine chambered in .44 MAG, and many pistols such as Glock have carbine conversion kits. The M-1 Carbine is an anomaly, being that it used a 108 gr .30 round that was unique to the weapon. It was originally developed to give support personnel a more accurate alternative to the 1911 sidearm.
