Renagade 0 Posted April 26, 2003 Well we had ppl asking about joining different military divisions but i don`t think anyones ask about jobs like these so i will. Has anyone done any of this kind of work before or got any other bits of information thats relevant? I suppose u could include military intelligence in this thread too. -TU--33ker 0 Posted April 26, 2003 i read that almost averyone could become a bouty hunter in the USA. you don't even need to have a certain training! i think it's pretty dangerous for everybody if some gun nuts are running around searching for a specific person without any idea of how a real professional would do this job! black__bird 0 Posted April 26, 2003 most states require you to either be POST certified(Law enforcement certified) or a form of BEA certified. Also you have to pass background checks and other testing to be allowed to carry weapons and especially to conceal them. Being a bounty hunter is actually alot like being a police officer, you have to follow rules and proper proceedures otherwise you will find yourself on the bad side of a lawsuit. DarkLight 0 Posted April 26, 2003 What exactly is a bounty/bouty hunter?
Epita 0 Posted April 26, 2003 A bounty hunter is someone that is like an assassin. Only people put a bounty on someones head, then whoever kills the person (depending on the bounty) gets the money. Remember Assassins just kill people, no questions. Epita
Renagade 0 Posted April 26, 2003 or they go catch ppl who skip bail for cash kinda reminds me of the whacky old guy who was on the hunt for osama
drewb99 0 Posted April 26, 2003 They aren't technicaly called Bounty Hunters, they're Bail Bond Agents. Usually today they don't kill people either, they get paid for bringing in a suspect who didn't appear at trial or did something of that nature.

I've met a few 'bounty hunters' and none of them have ever killed anyone As far as I know, governments dont allow 'Dead or Alive' bounties anymore Most bounty hunters just capture people who have skipped out on court appearances. When someone is arrested, they are assesed a bail amount. Since most people dont have a couple thousand dollars around, they pay a bail bondsman 10% of the bail amount, and the bondsman guarantees the court the full amount of the bail if the person doesnt appear. So bounty hunters capture people who havent appeared for court, and the bondsmen get their money back when they are captured. No killing involved
FSPilot 0 Posted April 26, 2003 Bounty hunters are definately not assassins. I don't think anybody except the government CAN put a bounty on someone's head in the first place. But anyway, they just do things like capturing people who skipped trial times, or didn't pay back their bail loans. Kinda dangerous work, but not assassins. I think it would be an interesting job, but I'd probably rather be a cop. That is if the air force, army, navy, and marines won't take me. Too good for them, ya know? Epita<span id='postcolor'> ROFL i don't think that's possible, not even in the USA! they just catch people as others already have posted. Of course some of them have been in law enforcement before and have some very good equipment (weapons, shotguns, bullet proof assault vests, all kinds of stuff for CQB) and training. they usually work in a group. but i also heard of some wackos who just bought a gun and drive around in their SUV and search for wanted criminals without knowing anything about law enforcement ! Â <span id='postcolor'> Actually it happens a lot, even in my little country some ppl get killed on demand. A couple months ago they even showed a video of a woman who was negotiating (sp?) with a man who was prepared to kill the woman her husband for money. The plan was to push him off the stairs but the husband was lucky that the cops found out before it was too late. These kind of stuff still happens, ppl get killed on demand, not always with a bullet but a lot of times it's an "accident". I wouldn't say that it doesn't happen in the USA, i'm pretty sure that it does. Just like it happens all over the world...

black__bird 0 Posted April 28, 2003 usually your "bounty" you get when you bring in a person who skipped on their bail is like 10% of what their bail was. if their bail was $1000 then you only get $100. Thats why BEA's(Bail Enforcement Agents) concentrate on the bigger cases. Charles Kopp(before he was captured) ad been on the run for several years and the severity of his crimes made his bail i believe around $2 million dollars. This means the BEA who brought him in would have gotten $200,000, which isnt bad. Working as a BEA is hard work because not only do you have to do your job quickly, BEAs dont have a central dispatcher so multiple people could be after one person and the one who catches the subject is the one who gets paid. unless you catch a lot of people that are worth some money it is pretty hard to make a living at it.
