Bas mh-47e released!

Wow, this is a really great, groundbreaking addon smile.gif

But I have found 1 quite disturbing bug:

I can hear the MH-47 from incredible distances, I mean if I stand on one end of Nogova and have an MH-47 hovering on the other end I can hear it well, but the sound is muffled as it should be when it´s far away. I have never experienced this problem before.

I have a SB Live! 5.1 with EAX enabled, and I have the Kyllikki Sound Pack 3.0 installed, but that hasn´t given me any problems, ever.

I had this problem in the 1.0 version, and I thought this was a known issue. Anyway, great addon.

Interesting about the sound gollum, its not like that for me, so we will have to wait on other reports. Try disabling EAX and see if that makes a difference, IMHO OFP is better WITHOUT EAX anyway.

Someone mentioned the extra effects available. Yes you will have several static lighting options to choose from with the mh47, in various colours. I included the red for the extraction flares, and the smoking one for the destroyed effect, but there are other colours. Use INFLAME to control them. One will give you black smoke.

There is a louder burning sound effect included you can use too, the name is "fire1".

Oh, and you can also make 4 various bits of debris, that can then be fired at. You may see them sometimes after a crash.

If anybody would like information on how to get the AI to do the various tricks, I can and will help, but ONLY if you have a decent grounding in using scripts already. You should PM me for this.

How about this for a mission idea....

Seize and Hold.

Each player starts with a full squad of AI, and as the leader of an MH47E.

The objective is to seize an area/flag/village etc and then defend it against other human players, who will also have use of a chopper and squad.

Or,

Attack and Defend.

Team A tries to move its pool of vehicles to a safe zone, while team B tris to destroy as many as possible.

As to the success rate of AA missiles, it will depend, as in Real life, on the distance the missile is fired from, and on how many are fired simultaneously.

Single rockets fired from greater than 150m or so will nearly always be deflected.

It is possible as a human player to knock it down by firing "manually" without the 'IR lock', but as in RL it would have to be a lucky shot.

While i'm at it, what kind of features are people expecting to see on the MH60??

Not sure what extra constraints would be put on a loaded chopper, but obviously there would be some.

I believe the readme details why I included it.

However sling snapping rate is actually 90kmh, so you have a little leeway.

We are planning on making the MH60 ULTRA realistic. As such you wont be able to fly it without a 30 minute warm up and pre-flight check, and only bonafide Pilots will be permitted to fly it thanks to the pilot licence serial number checking script. Nearly everybody will be allowed to use the door gun though, just as long as they can provide a provable record of military service in the "Vets check" script. As a final thing, players will have to type the whole readme into a dialog box (not cut and paste) before the addon will be enabled.

Also, the interior will be painted pink, as 8 out of 10 players said their wives preferred it.

ok first of all this is an incredible addon..it adds much to OF...

I am enjoying every second..BAS you are THE TEAM!

Oh and I found a litle sound bug...

When I am in the air with the mh-47e and I click engine off and go down when it hits the ground it sounds like a wodden house was destroyed...nothing major as I said...

Well i would quite like an extended warm up, not quite 30 minutes but at least 1 and a half or something, with a checklist like the bus timetable and it sowly checks off things as you do stuff. But then again when we're in a hurry we can get off the ground in like 2 minutes, which is bloody fast.

Jinef.......I was being ironic..........which is the closest I come to doing the ironing......

To be completely frank I know very little about the MH60, and as yet have not been asked to do anything to it, and may very well not be.

In fact I have seen nothing more than a pic of a half done model.

But now we mention pink interiors............. biggrin.gif

You guys did en excellent job and need to take a break,

I know how it is and you have plenty of time to fix any bugs.

Users should be enjoying this mod and keep track of any bugs/features that they would like in the next version which is whenever they get around to working on it again.

I hope the critism doesnt get to you,just have to realize with a big name like BAS and had many users trying it,so of course there is more user feedback , some good and some annoying.

If they were to do all the features i seen requested...it would never be done,lol

i noticed some one said they heard the chopper from a far distance.. for the record it happens to me too.. ad i have SB Audigy 5.1 with EAX enabled.. dosent want to go away it seems

that was discussed when the addon first came out (v1.0).

its for realism reasons. someone said you can hear such a chopper from about 15miles away in certain circumstances...

i dont think its some bug or something

today i sent a bug report to BAS with some bugs with textures missing and other stuff and what did i got?

no answer that they got it or any other reaction.......

I reread all this thread so I am EXTREMELY srry if this has been asked already. I manage to get crash to desktop everytime that my chopper was gonna crash, ie before its destruction. I think it is only me cuz I c no1 with same issue except Canadian Terror who got it once, but I wasnt even able to finish one mission sad.gif. thx for help. Srry again

I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I can't find it in the readme either (maybe I missed it when I read it). Where is the crashed model? Empty>what? I can't find it anywhere.

perhaps you can add one of those recieve-confermation messages to your mail account, so everyone who sents you a mail get's a confermation that their message has been recieved.

write something in it like; "We'll look into it in the near future", or "we'll sent you a message 'when it's done' " biggrin.gif

yeah, whats up with that? i enjoy it lots, havent nocticed any bug. only thing i had noticed was that i put te cargo addon in wrong folder tounge.gif .

great work once again! love that night extraction thingy!!

Well I found a Lot of bugs tonight when I played with several other guys, which will need fixing in the future.

They are mainly to do with the cargo version and its internal load.

For now I would advise AGAINST making missions dependant on that feature, unless they are SP, which is what this chopper is geared towards anyway.

@Abrams, we have a severe prblem with our concept5 server at the moment, please bear with us...

I had that problem initially too, I was confused by the statement that the "There are 3 PBO files in the zip file. Installation files are different depending on which version of OFP you are running."

I thought intially the 185 one was for 1.85 clients only so I left it out, couldn't see the MH47E.

I put those two pbo files and the BAS_Cargo in OFP\Addons and I can see the MH47E in the same area the Kiowa's are.

However I get missing addon statements so as Nagual described above you have to manually edit and then repack your mission PBO to get it to run on multiplayer.

I redid 7 missions on the night this addon was released and I could only get 1 semi-working.<span id='postcolor'>
