JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted April 15, 2003 Right I have made a quite nice model for a PSG, pics might be up on OFP info by now. And I need a good optics view. Dont care what it is, Mil dot, whatever I just want to finish it. Ive tried making some illuminated reticules, but they look a bit tacky
Andraz 2 Posted April 16, 2003 The strange thing is that there isn't a single picture on the web that would show how Hensoldt 6x42 reticle looks like. All I could find out is that it's a duplex-style (but not mil-dot) illuminated reticle with elevation setting from 100m to 600m. Â The problem is that the Hensoldt 6x42 scope is permanently mounted to PSG-1 (bolted to a mount welded atop the receiver) so it wouldn't be very realistic if you add any other scope. I suggest you to go to Hensoldt AG Zeiss Gruppe website, click the link Carl Zeiss Sports Optics and try to find out how their scope reticles look like. Then choose one, after all, a very few people know how the real one looks. Â
JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted April 16, 2003 Yeah I was looking all night last night for that sight and not a sausage. So thanks I'll have look.
JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted April 16, 2003 All the reticles available Theres lots to choose from, but the 6X42 all look like the M21 scope, maybe a tad different
JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted April 16, 2003 I quite like 42, with the illuminated cross in the middle, dont know how Im gonna do the 100-600m ranging bit. Andraz, how would I zero the sight for 300m. How did you do it for yours.
Andraz 2 Posted April 16, 2003 Considering that your scope has fixed magnification, values distanceZoomMin and distanceZoomMax in config.cpp should be the same, in your case 300. This will zero the rifle at a range of 300m. Also, values opticsZoomMin and opticsZoomMax should be the same. They determine zoom factor.
JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted April 16, 2003 I Â see, thanks. you wounn't know what the zoom factor would be for a x6 scope would you? Thanks.
Andraz 2 Posted April 17, 2003 Sorry, I don't know, but I can tell you a little secret how to make your scope as realistic as my M3A. Zeiss Diatal ZM/Z 6x42MC (which is very similar to Hensoldt 6x42) has Field Of View 6,7m at 100m (that is 13,4m at 200m, 20,1m at 300m and so on). Try adjusting your zoom level (it will take a lot of time, but it's worth it) until your scope has the same FOV as the real one. I must tell you I was very surprised when I found out that nobody before me had figured this out -> it's the right FOV that makes a scope realistic.
JJonth Cheeky Monkey 1 Posted April 17, 2003 thanks Ill try it. How would I know what 6.7m is exactly in game.
Andraz 2 Posted April 17, 2003 Create a cylinder with diameter of 6,7m in Oxygen Light (1 unit is 1m), get it in game and position yourself 100m away from it. Keep adjusting opticsZoomMin and opticsZoomMax in config.cpp until the edges of cylinder touch the edges of your scope FOV.
