undead 0 Posted April 10, 2003 Hi all! One question: How can I slow down the game in the "commander mode". My minimal time ratio is 1.000! I´ve read a review in which was noticed that I can slow down the program, so that I don´t get shot at during giving orders to my team members when I´m in external view. I`d be glad for any help. Thanks, GeraldF.

walker 0 Posted April 10, 2003 Hi undead Slow time is a scripted function. It is standard in the Command Engine from the CoC I would suggest you put a question in the Scripting thread and Spinor or BN880 or any of plethora of people will tell you how to do it. Also look for bullet time scripts there is one by The_Milky_Bar_Kid at OFPEC in the Editors Depot (browse scripts they are alphabetical look on page 2) Edit Melkor beat me to it Kind Regards walker

IceFire 0 Posted April 10, 2003 No, do not change time in this game. It is unrealistic. I remapped my controls so that no button does time acceleration. In real life soldiers can't do time acceleration or decelleration. Why should YOU be able to? There are many moments in this game when I am a black op being sneaky crawling through enemy infested areas. I knew I needed to get to that next bush far away and was going as fast as I could. I knew time acceleration would make it easier. But things were TENSE, I knew I could get shot at ANY moment. Sure time changing could make things go faster and relieve the tension, but do REAL soldiers get that luxery? No, they take the risk, feel the heat, feel the tension. Sometimes even lose control and start open firing due to the immese anxiety. They don't have any time accelleration or deselleration.

I already waist enough of my time at school or sitting on my ass playing airsoft waiting for the idiots on my team to get ready for an assault on an enemy position. I think the Accelerate time feature is very helpful. P.S: Soldiers also dont get the luxery of dieing and then coming back again. How would you like it if as soon as you died in the campaign, the game was over for you permently? Just my thoughts...
IceFire 0 Posted April 10, 2003 I agree with you on one point. Time is valuable. And I don't have much of it in real life. I still hold by my point about time changing should not be used in the game because it is unrealistic. So do you know how often I get a chance to play the game? I play OFP about 2 times a week. Sinse OFP takes up alot of time and patience, that's about how much time I have to play OFP. Anyways I think your idea about dying in OFP is interesting. Maybe one day they will implement this idea in an ultimately realistic game. One where once you die, you game is locked and you can no longer play.
Skul 0 Posted April 10, 2003 What kind of stupid game would lock you out permanently? There would be no point in buying it, then! Reinstall it? Sure! Ah!! But what if the system detects that it has already been on the system and it STILL locks the game out! That would be so cool! (rolls eyes) Well, time to use the old trick of 'tell them to do something completely different in the hopes that it will satisfy them'! Here goes... I have a better idea! Join the army! I dont think i would play it ever. I'd end up hiding in some bush or something trying not to be killed. I KNOW thats realistic, but its very boring for a computer game. The reason that most of us play games like operation flashpoint is because when you die nothing bad ACTUALLY happens to you. Sure, I could go into combat rather than play flashpoint, and see all the vehicles and choppers in the world, and realistic physics and great terrain. But the problem with that is that you run the risk of being killed. No, I would not buy a game where when you die you cannot play it any more.
Jamesia 0 Posted April 14, 2003 pardon? whats everyone else's views? would you buy a game where you could not play it any more once you died?

IceFire 0 Posted April 14, 2003 Yes, that's exactly what I mean. If you die, then the game locks you out. You can't play anymore. I would love to see a game like this.
Jamesia 0 Posted April 14, 2003 i'd take the game back to the shop (once i died) the company wouldnt get a profit.

_Assulter_ 0 Posted April 19, 2003 Intresting would be if you had to start ALL over when you died ... But the game comes with maybe 15 small Campaigns (Different Side of the war).
