dominic_crotty 0 Posted April 1, 2003 Hi there all, Apologies if this is in a FAQ somewhere or if it is in the wrong forum. Sometimes if I spot an enemy vehicle, select a squadmember and then try to tell him to target it by right-clicking the vehicle, the command icon is not the crosshairs but the embark icon. Instead of blasting it to a million pieces he tries to get in it!!! In the process he gets himself killed.........Thanks a million trooper. Why does this happen? Anyone else have the prob? Any solution or is it a bug of sorts? Thanks in advance
Placebo 29 Posted April 1, 2003 I think this is more a general discussion so I'll move it over there, if nothing else at least it moves down the closed threads

I like this almost as much as: 1. Waiting inside a building to ambush and enemy, then falling "through" the wall into the middle of the enemy squad because the walls in OFP are "magic"! 2. Telling units to find cover only to have them run out into the middle of a field and hide next to a pebble when there is a *$&!@%*!!! forest right next to them!!!!!!! 3. Placing objects precisely in the editor when none of the icons represent their true position and size. I can go on, but I think everyone already knows what else I am about to complain about. The answer to your question is that there are alot of things in OFP that just plain don't work right. The OFP engine is like a controlled distaster really, you just have to get used to it and try not to think of the problems. I guess keep yelling at BIS until they do something about it or tell you to shut up. Â Oh, btw, in your case, is the enemy vehicle actually occupied at the time? If not, they WILL try to get inside if it's empty.
Harnu 0 Posted April 1, 2003 When you select the unit, right click over the target and it will target. If that doesnt work, press 2 and target it manualy.
doc1011 0 Posted April 1, 2003 Hahahaha, falling through the walls is classic OFP I've died sooooo many times that way...Or when you get stuck in a wall and they shoot at your half expsoed body and kill you. I love the pan-out when you die...There is just a bloody hand sticking out of the wall. The other thing that kills me in OFP is the bouncing tanks or the hyper active containers that when hit just RIFLE across the landscape and never seem to stop moving around! But getting back to the main question...instead of using the mouse you could use the F1-F12 keys and just tell him to engage the UAZ or whatever. For quick things like that...when your not directing your entire squad i find the F-1-12 keys work best, but that's just my opinon.
