Tex -USMC- 0 Posted April 7, 2003 haha, Mr. Kelly is on a regular scenic tour of downtown Baghdad. First he's at the presidential palace, then he pops up at the national parade grounds, and now they're saddling up again. My bet is he ends up at either the Ministry of Information or the Rashid Hotel very soon here.

theavonlady 2 Posted April 7, 2003 FYI, near the start of the war, Iraqi TV showed a manufacturers plate, claimed to be from a missile, that was clearly marked as being manufactured by Israel Military Industries. No one here (us common folk, that is) could figure out what it came from until I saw a report on local TV this morning about the ITALD.
Guest Posted April 7, 2003 They just showed some nasty pictures on Swedish TV, apparently from Baghdad: A Bradley got hit by an RPG and started burning. Two of the crew and some people riding in the back jumped out, on fire. Then the Bradley exploded. Ĺsne Seierstad is reporting live and says that fights around the presidential palace are raging. She just hit the deck a second ago (she's outside in a park, in the center). Apparently the fighting is far from over and the US troops have not withdrawn as some reports say. There's a sand storm raging so the visibility is pretty low. A Swedish colonel who is an authority on urban combat says that the fact that the US troops have reached so far inside is clear evidence that the Iraqis have not been able to organize themselves. Modern doctrine dictates that you have to go in with 6:1 force to take an urban center. The fact that the US troops have been able to push so far indicates that the Iraqi resistance has been overestimated. The Iraqis have blown several bridges. LOL. They're showing pictures of Saddam's toilet

Maybe they plan to let the Americans come in then fight them once they are starting to get confortable. Wait until the US troops are far into the centre of Baghdad then form up and incircle them. WhoCares 0 Posted April 7, 2003 I just wonder how much control of the banks they have, when the iraqis manage to blow up bridges. However, many unknown factors here - did they blew them up right now or two days back? Have allied forces already reached the bridges they blew up or were those bridges in another part of town? ... Sounds like they just got there. There are numerous bridges in the Baghdad area. Nothing is really clear without a map and pointing at the areas in question.
