DJOlmstead 0 Posted March 18, 2003 I seem to have this problem when I set waypoints for ground vehicles. I set waypoints the vehicle to move along a road, which I have to set a bunch so it follows the road exactly, (and if there is an easier way let me know), and when it reaches it's next waypoint it stops, waits about five seconds, then continues on. How do i make it so that it doesn't stop and goes to it's next waypoint seamlessly?
RED 0 Posted March 18, 2003 Make sure the unit is in safe mode, set this in the units first trigger or the units init field. RED
DJOlmstead 0 Posted March 18, 2003 Thanks, Red. I'll try it.
Shark111 0 Posted March 18, 2003 A little question about something noticed in different mission: why the vehicle's driver simply ignores any movement command given directly in the 3d world when it comes from the gunner (and there is no commander)? I've spotted this trouble on M113s (where gunner is commander) and in commanderless tanks. Thx for any interest. ... somewhere a shark hopes to meet ya... Tychon 0 Posted March 18, 2003 I think the gunner being able to issue driving commands is moreso just due to the coding, or for players - I don't believe the AI is programmed to obey the gunner.
DJOlmstead 0 Posted March 19, 2003 I tried to do what Red told me to do in the mission editor to get my vehicle to go through the waypoints without stopping, but it didn't work. Anyone out there have a different solution?
Balschoiw 0 Posted March 19, 2003 you dont have to make thousands of waypoints at all. Simply place one at the desired target area and make it careless and choose the spped mode you like. AI will follow the road on its own. No need to make hundreds of waypoints. Only make sure that the waypoint is on a road.
DJOlmstead 0 Posted March 19, 2003 Thanks Balschoiw, you have both made me sound like a complete idiot and helped me out a lot. lol
Ruskiesrule 0 Posted March 19, 2003 Safe is better, Careless is when you want them to ignore everything around them, so they won't be bothed by the squad of 30men standing on the road armed with AT rockets!
Shark111 0 Posted March 20, 2003 Something more about tanks. Let it be bug, but in an M113 who gives the movement orders if the gunner does not?
DJOlmstead 0 Posted March 22, 2003 When I was a noob and I was just playing around with a squad and some vehicles, I found out the M113 question. The soldier who gives the orders is the soldier with the highest rank. So most of the time, the driver is the commander. Also, keep in mind the M113 is just a troop carrier and the gunner is there just to protect, not to attack, so this could play an important role in who is the commander.
