Launching Publisher Woes

Recommended Posts

A frustrating few months has gone by where I have been unable to launch the Arma 3 Publisher. (I can however launch every other application in the Tools package)

I'm aware the message I'm receiving is related to Steam client but having troubleshooted every conceivable avenue I thought I would ask here in the hope someone can throw me a fresh bone to gnaw on....

w4qsCle.png

Every conceivable avenue: verified game data, uninstalled/reinstalled Arma 3 Tools and Steam client, disabled my AV/AS software, checked my firewall setting, ran a memory diagnostics test, raised a ticket with Steam Support, kicked the cat.

Never had these issues before, soooo frustrating.

It's maybe worth adding I have over 125 mods uploaded to the Workshop, I have started to wonder if this fairly large number has contributed to the Publisher not opening, I mean is there a limit to the amount of content that can be uploaded to the Workshop before there are issues syncing  this content with Steam?

Hey EO,

You might be running the dev branch of A3 tools.

My publisher version is 1.5.148.892 from 08/03/2002 which is accurate according to https://dev.arma3.com/techrep.

You are running:

Hey @RCA3, thanks for your input.......It sure is quiet around here these days.

Yes the latest log report was generated using the dev branch of A3 tools, I switched to them to see if it would solve my issues but the same problem remains whether I run development or stable versions of the tools.

And so it goes on....

Can anyone take a look at my latest .rpt and make some sense as to what the problem might be....

Migrating to Windows 11 has solved my issues, my takeway is my Windows 10 registry must have been corrupt.

And so the problems persist...

A fresh install of Windows 11 allowed me to open the Publisher a few times then all the original issues in the OP returned, had some success running the Publisher a few times in safe mode only to have the same iissues.

So yesterday, I decided to do a fresh install of Windows 10 (wasn't a fan of 11 regardless of these issues) and reinstalled Steam, Arma 3 and Arma 3 Tools.

Upon launching Publisher for the first time it opened successfully the first time, after closing the program and trying to launch it again all the previous issues returned.

I've even tried opening the Publisher on an old laptop with a fresh install of Windows 10 and again it launched successfully the very first time followed by all the previous issues that have persisted on my main system.

The ticket I raised with Steam Support, submitted with all the logs they asked for, back in April was returned with a "We've looked into it, It's not our problem, contact BI"

So today I finally raised a ticket on the Feedback Tracker...

https://feedback.bistudio.com/T174026

For any passers by wishing to take a look here are my latest logs related to the Publisher...

On a personal level it's pretty depressing that an outlet that brings me some comfort and satisfaction in this world is being denied and has been for some time.

And as if my luck couldn't get any worse, I just got three wasp stings doing some garden chores this morning.   Ouch.

Clearly people responsible for the tools are not reading this, EO.

Just post this link on discord's #arma3_tools_makers
