Akira 0 Posted February 22, 2003 I don't recall if this has been brought up or not before, but I shall mention it anyway. There is a game that can be played via email called "Diplomacy," and since the boards have been quite active with this topic, I was wondering if anyone was interested in trying the game out. Here are some links: Diplomacy FAQs Good Diplomacy Page Some Diplomacy Maps If anyone wants to take a gander at the rules let me know and I can email them to you. There are opening for 7 countries in the standard version. I haven't looked at the "varients."
Warin 0 Posted February 22, 2003 OOOOOOOH! Diplomacy kicks ass! Â My circle of friends played this through high school, and it is totally amazing! Â Basically WW 1 era Europe. Â There is nothing like executing a perfect back stab on your best friend, and smirking at him as he runs the gamut from disbelief to anger to resignation. Boo-Yah! I think we should try to get together a PBeM game with various forum goers. Â It could be an interesting exercise in international diplomacy! edit: the coolest part of the game is that there is essntially no luck. Unlike Risk, or even some of the hard core strategy and/or tactics games I play, there are no dice rolls. It makes the game a totally hard core exercise in persuasivess and diplomacy. Akira 0 Posted February 22, 2003 Cool. Thats three at least. I need to bone up on the rules and the like. Played it a long time ago (through the SFC Forums ). How do we handle the "Gamemaster" or should we use one of the "Judge" servers?
USMC Sniper 0 Posted February 22, 2003 Sounds cool from Warin's description, but I have never played it. Send the rules to u83r_h4x0r@hotmail.com
Harnu 0 Posted February 22, 2003 That's one long FAQ. Can you give me a basic overview of how it's played? What it is like and such.
IceFire 0 Posted February 22, 2003 Ok, I don't know what you mean about this "diplomacy". But if you are talking about Irak, give me a break. It's been how many years now?? Time for diplomacy is over.
IceFire 0 Posted February 22, 2003 Ok, just looked at one of the links. Forget what I said above.

Basically you control a country around 1900 Europe. Using Diplomacy and war you try to get a certain amount of Supply Centers. The rub is you can only have as many units as you have supply centers (ie 4 supply centers you can have 2 fleets and 2 armies, or 3 armies 1 fleet, etc etc). Balschoiw 0 Posted February 22, 2003 Which ROE pocket card shall I use ? That one from somalia, congo, yugoslavia, white russia or columbine ?
FSPilot 0 Posted February 22, 2003 This is wierd. I click on the link Akira gave us and it gives me a 404. So I go looking through the website and find the rules, then download them. Same link (http://www.machdiespuhl.org/rules/dip_rul.rtf), but you have to find the link to download them. They're in the downloads section, under "RÄgles & Cartes", click on "diplomacy". At least that's what I had to do. I wouldn't be surprised if it worked for everyone else.
