the confusion about Military grade suits

Hello only playing for a couple of months now and question for you guys.

 

Do the military-grade suits eg Adam's suit help in any way against gunfire? They look like they have bulletproof vests and I am wondering if they restrict damage compared to wearing just a raincoat. Also same question regarding masks and helmets.

I am still amazed at the lack of response from the so called
