0x0000DEAD - Error code upon startup! (personal details/files/screenshots added for troubleshooting assistance)

Recommended Posts

I understand that there are other threads with their own replies, but I figured that - for the sake of convenience - I'd add my own personal details for this error code should none of the replies from other threads help!

Attached are the RPT. file for the most recent startup fail + screenshot of the screen itself when the startup process comes to a halt. I hope this gives some insight, been this way for a little over two weeks 😞

Thank you in advance for ANY tips! I really do appreciate it.

Does the problem also occur if you run without any mods?  If so, reinstall ace, your local version of it seems to have gotton corrupted.

Thank you for the response. I failed to mention what I've already done to troubleshoot.

Verified integrity of game files; repairing ACE mod through Arma III launcher; uninstalling, verifying files are deleted in their respective locations on my desktop, and performing a clean install of ACE mod.

Arma DOES in fact boot up w/o ACE installed and the error code attached seems to push that point further. But no matter what I do, ACE is consistently corrupted to an extent.

I've manually downloaded ACE from the developer's github, and while that works, ACE-dependent mods fail to work because they don't recognize ACE is installed (they would only work if the Steam version of ACE was installed).

Suggestions: if I could map out a pathway to the manually installed ACE, that'd be great! Otherwise, no matter what is done, it's corrupted 😞

Once again, I really appreciate your reply. just got back from work so it took a minute to respond.

edit: Clean reinstall of entire game + mods including ACE, same result.

Awesome! Thank you :) I'll see what I can do... after reading over my last response, I saw how redundant I was with mentioning ACE. Super tired yesterday (night shift worker) lmao. Appreciate your help!

SOLVED! Did some personal maintenance and came up with my own troubleshooting tree. 50/50 half of all my mods I have installed; used half that spits out kill code (0x0000DEAD); continue to half it until I made some educated guesses and picked one at random.

Turns out it was a now useless addon for ACE that supposedly cancels out stamina - "ACE no stamina." Removed and I'm back on! Wow, what time on the weekend can do for you 😉 Thank you to all who helped and to anyone else who has this error code:

- Load *only* ACE and CBA_A3

- if game boots up, good

- load half of your usual mods

- if your game loads, unload that group of mods and load the other half

- keep slicing the group of mods in half down to the very last mod (which should be the one causing 0x000DEAD, or if there are multiple then you will find that out during the troubleshooting process.

Solved it in 20 minutes and I actively have 130 mods installed. Good news if you have slightly more, even better if you have less!

Best of luck.
