hi guys smile.gif

I check both DL links and prewiev pics, it works normally. You must repeat go to DL links, and it is recommended with some DL accelerator (DAP, Godzilla or other). Try it again.

this is a great addon it looks and works great the only problem is the 30cal it is not realistic also the the ammo name in the drop bar is in milimeters and not caliber like the US uses

I agree with the Sgt. The ammo names should be in caliber not mm. Overall the pack seems fairly good. However one small bug...on at least the M1 Garand rifles, the sites are semi-transparent which looks kinda strange.

Also for the weapon pack, they REALLY need to include a list of weapon and ammo names for usage in scripts to put them on WWII soldiers from other mods. The weapons are quite good...they are the old ones WWII Team weapons with all their textures fixed up properly finally... but they are still quite good and their sounds are spot on.

As for the new soldier models...well... they look basically like the old ones just with fixed up helmets. On the critical side, it would have nice if they had went all out and made a new model like the 1944 Team's 82nd Airborne models which are just fabulous. Having been spoiled by the excellent new soldier models coming out (like 1944's troops, and the Landser mods) I was hoping these would have entirely new models for authentic equipment and gear.

However with that said the 1944mod team's 82nd troops don't have the cool voice sound effects when they get hit, and you don't hear the sound of the soldier's gear shaking around when they run. The Landser German infantry addon is the only other WWII infantry addon (that I've seen) that has that sound. Little touches like that make a big difference to creating atmosphere and realism in a mission. What I really wish is that the 1944 team would let the WWIIEC team do 101st textures onto their 82nd soldier models. I guess that the 1944 team is doing that themselves, but it would be nice if they teamed up and helped each other out as each of these units have good and bad things... it would be nice to have the best of all these mods all in one. smile.gif

It is a very good pack but I have to say that I was expecting a bit more from it. Dont get me wrong, its ALOT better than the marcel pack(I can finally delete that now) but I figured the soldier detail would be a bit better.

If a group is going to make ww2 addons, it is going to be compared to Inv44 everytime if it's halfway decent. Perhaps modders might look at the competition and raise their bar up a bit higher as well.

These are a great match to the landser addon smile.gif

Lol, I've also noticed that. A bit annoying especially as I don't know if I should install into OFP dir or OFP/Addons dir. Nowadays I just install into a folder on the desktop and move the files where they should be in OFP dir, hehe.

Yes. That's what I do, too. This one was particularly annoying. The PBO's were embedded 3 or 4 subfolders in. Messy.

Another thing. Why cant addon makers give their PBO file names unique identifier prefixes, so that we can easily identify them?

Instead of EC_UWeap.pbo and GST_101st.pbo, they could have at least prefixed them with "WW2", "WWIIEC" or similar.

Anyone from WWIIEC here paying attention? confused.gif

I have an "Addon.txt" in my Addon folder where I've typed a list of all unofficial addons and a short description and/or an url to help me remember which is which. It does help smile.gif

Keep bitching, I'm sure the mod teams out there just LOVE hearing it. <constructive or not, a little appreciation for folks efforts IS called for>

And no more comparisons to I44, I44 is an UNRELEASED mod, You are comparing everyone else's work to something that isn't out, raise the bar? hell I can photoshop the bar out past Alpha Centauri, doesn't mean you'll be playing THAT mod in THIS lifetime.

Folks, you've gotten spoiled and unappreciative, stop it,

please. mad.gif

So that means everytime an addon comes out we can't talk about its shortcomings.  NOBODY said this was a bad addon.  In fact just about everyone has had praise for it.  In fact it's a great addon as is the weapon pack that comes with it.  However it could be BETTER and that is what the criticisms are for. I have not seen any nasty  "this addon sucks" type replies.  Anyways, I don't think anyone from WWIIEC is even here to read the comments so it probably doesn't matter.  If they are then I hope they take the critiques with a grain of salt and not get too upset about them.  If these very mild critiques upset them then they shouldn't be making addons.

There is NO reason NOT to compare them to the  1944mod.  The 1944 82nd airborne troops are absolutely incredible examples of soldier modelling.   The WWIIEC troops are also airborne soldiers from WWII so why not compare them?  Of coarse both mods aren't finished but these addons are out and there is no reason not to compare them.

Also in my review I was trying to be fair in saying that the WIIEC airborne soldiers also have some great features that the 82nd troops don't have like the voices that cry out when they get hit, the sound of their gear shaking when they run, and of coarse the excellent weapon pack (which other then it's problem with the ammo names, transparent weapon sites, and no list of script weapon and ammo names, is extremely good).

So let the cards fall where they may.   Again nobody is calling this a bad addon.  My apologies if I didn't praise them enough.  Much praise indeed goes out to WWIIEC for their hardwork as this addon as it has been a LONG time coming.  I hope that they will only continue to improve upon it.

And yet, you still, in the overweening praise for the as yet unproven I44 (yes the troops are good, but) miss the odd blemish or 2 smile.gif

(anyone everhear of "parkerizing" it's a technique of bluing used to keep military weapons from being, umm, "shiny")

And if you're going to complain about semi-transparent sights, do note the I44 sights have the same feature.

Yes I did come off harsh, why? because 2 pages of "constructive critics" doesn't come off as constructive, it comes off as "well crap, why bother?"

I44 will be a good mod (one would hope, given the time and talent) but this seeming "set the standard" BS

PEOPLE, MODDERS DON'T GET FRIGGIN' PAID FOR THEIR WORK.

The only standard around here comes from BIS,the rest of us apply only time and dedication, if you don't care for some one's work , don't download it, or better yet, fire up O2 and do it better yourself.

hi :-)

why .exe file ? Because every OFP player don't have ISDN or faster connect to i'net. The file 101st Airborne is 3,29 MB as .zip file and 1,77 MB as .exe file. The addon US weapons is 3,89 MB as .zip file and 2,89 MB as .exe file

Yo, pzvg...

No one "bitched" on the mod author/s in this thread. Constructive critisism or not, it was their oppinions. This is a forum where we exchange oppinions.

Get over it.

pzvg...

Ya, I said raise the frickin bar.

Why?

Why not?

I am a modder myself and have been for years so I am well aware of how spoiled people get. Thats not the point here at all.

From a modder's view, if someone can do a good job, they could always do a better one with unbiased "constructive" critisism. It's not like I'm counting rivets here on tanks crazy.gif

I've read through this thread and I must say that it just warms my heart, really it does. I would really appreciate it if people stopped comparing us to everyone. We're not a MOD, we're an Addon Team. We put out what we finish, or would it be preferred that we just hold it and then not release it?

We have new soldier models for plenty of new units in the works. I'm sorry that the 101st did not have new models, maybe next time we will just hold them for a lot longer until we can do some. The weapons are temporary as we have great new weapons in the works, and will be out soon enough.

I got praise for I44, yes they have quality addons but we do not compete. Sussmori even came onto our site and wrote some compliments because he knows as well that competition is just a complication that neither of our teams need.

Do you have any idea how many damn complaints we got about the weapons? It was real disheartening and they aren't even the freaking finals. We even posted something about that due to the amount of complaints about them

People, we do our best to bring you FREE addons to play with. Free. Each takes time and work, many of our boys work together just to complete one addon. We have new models and stuff in the works, but we thought the 101st even without would be a welcome addition to replace the old stuff.

Quite frankly, I'm beginning to wish we had just held them. Sure I may be coming off rough, but the weapon complains really hit a soft spot with me and I'm quite disheartened and even began wondering why the heck we do this.

Canadian, to offer them critic, is to say, "this doesn't look right guys" You and I know that, but to suggest they must raise the bar to meet the unreleased (and therefore unknown)

is asking a bit much in the "constructive" dept, see where I'm coming from?

INeo, how thoughtful, now kill yet another brain cell and realize you were just exposed to my "opinion"

So you "get over it", awraaht?

So your oppinion is that our oppinions are "bitching"? Now, that's a good oppinion smile.gif

Pfff... mad.gif

But I don't wanna use this thread dedicated to the 101st Airborne addon to having a childish argument with you.

Excuses to the guys behind this addon.

personally  i love these airborne units we were missing some of those guys to fight the already increadible landser addons

some pple do apreciate the time and dedication you spend on making addons that are good quality for free and if it's not completely history accurate well we are all human and it reflects on everybody's work so don't get yourselves down by some pple criticism, because you can't discuss tastes and colours (nobody thinks the same way) and even if you think your work is perfect there will always be someone to criticise it

and not always in a politically correct way.

believe me i've learned this the hard way that's just the way

the world goes everybody tends to take gifts for granted

and still they will not see all the intentions you get on to give it to them but they will see all the imperfections it contains

that's the price you pay by giving things free to other pple that don't know you that don't live with you nor know the things you do and it always gonna be that way.

so from a guy that don't model anything because he doesn't know nothing about o2 or other programs but does apreciate

your hard work keep it up boys and good luck for the rest of

your addons  ill be waiting for your next release knowing that i will love it wink.gif
