KDog35 0 Posted February 6, 2003 Hi, I've been reading the forum about being "bumped" to desktop while starting OFP. The two things I'm going to try (this is for a friend) as recommended in the threads is: load new drivers, bring down the hardware acceleration on PC, and set "swap file settings". But I don't know what that is, could someone please explain "step by step" how to do this? AND just wondering, in OPF Pefs, what is "geometry performance"?; mine's set at 1866. is there a standard, or should this be set according to my comp. specs.? AND is Direct 3D HW T&L better than setting normal Direct 3D for OFP? Thanks for answering my questions once again. Kdog-
bn880 5 Posted February 6, 2003 I will answer one or two questions: (easy ones) The geometry perf. should be set to just under your CPU benchmark result. I think the setting you have is appropriate, and it will be automatically adjusted when you run Autodetection in the prefs. Swap file in XP Prof, Start Menu Settings Control Panel System Advanced Performance (Settings button) Advanced Tab Now you should see the virtual memory box... click change and enter a custom size like 512 or 1024 min/max Depending on how much free space you have.
