Until now, in the subject of the Vietnam War in Arma 3 was like this... on the one hand, Unsung. Lots of stuff, the devs did the great job, I really appreciate it, but... when I look at their jungle boots my eyes hurt (guys, please don't be offended, because I really appreciate your work) 😘. On the other hand... nothing, absolutely nothing. And now comes S&S. This mod filled a great void. Well, I think I'll take a week off and I'll go to jungle to fight with Viet Cong. My dreams came true. This is what I missed in Arma 3. The quality of the models, attention to details, compliance with the realities are at the highest level. Glory to the creators! Many thanks to everyone who participated in the mod release, but special thanks to Simcardo.

Regarding floating jeep, did you set these classes in the jeep's config?

waterLeakiness = 0;
canFloat = 1;

Remove them, if you did and see if it helps. Also, there might be a Buoyancy LOD problem (too big for the mass applied on Geometry LOD, or not properly made, especially intersecting components are "no-go" -> https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/LOD).
Nice stuff you've got there, by the way!

oh the jeep float was fixed in a hotfix, forgot to change it in the frontpage but thanks! and indeed the issue was geometry buoyancy in the model

Curious as to what gives the uniform models to have a much softer shadow compared to vanilla models...

ztbcczI.jpg

Just to be clear I don't see this as a bug, I think it looks much better when compared with the sharp shadow cast by the vanilla model.

This soft shadow is present on virtually all S&S gear with the exception of the radio backpacks and a few vests.

While i'm here I'll take this opportunity to give a great big thumbs up to S&S. :rthumb:

Ah so the soft shadows are, basically arma has 2 types of shadows, one being soft and stencil shadows. They are defined in a property in the geometry LOD; "prefershadowvolume = 0"

IMO it looks better on characters tho i understand why ppl might not like it bcs it might look inconsistent with other items like guns or headgear

Fantastic update, Simcardo & Co. - I'm really loving the new backpacks, the AN/PRC-25s are gorgeous. Really looking forward to see what you have in store for us in the future 🙂

Also really digging the NL gear, fantastic to have some more European content in Arma!

Will the Radios be made compatible with TFAR? When picking the radio backpack and trying to use TFAR no interface comes up..

I was silently working on a compatibility mod for TFAR, however I haven't pushed it to the workshop as of yet - I'd rather wait until I can perform some final testing and run everything past simcardo to see if it's kosher or not.

that'll be great! i haven't actually played arma in about a year so i dont have anything like tfar or acre or ace anymore, hence i've no idea how they work. if you guys want to release a compatibility patch it is more than welcome!

I have just created a cfg patch for TFAR, all the radio backpacks are now working.. want the source config.cpp? Or shall I just release as a compatibility patch for you?

does it require tfar dependency? if it doesnt require it then i can integrate it to the base mod

TFAR is required, afaik.

I'll push my compatibility mod shortly. \o

I can make it so it looks for TFAR before and then if TFAR is there it enables the patch

So just tested and with my config.cpp patch if you load without TFAR it causes no issues or errors with the backpacks, and thats without it checking for TFAR. If you enable TFAR then it converts the backpacks into usable radios, so it all seems to be working as intended.

How do you want me to get the config.cpp source file to you?
