This post is in preperation for the Alpha release of this terrain in the next few weeks.

Scottish Highlands takes you to North-West Scotland, focusing on the hills and valleys around Loch Eil, only a few miles from the Largest mountain in Scotland, Ben Nevis. This area has an interesting mix of topography. Coastal areas are flat and broken up by villages, tall hedgerows and fields, whilst the less populated inland is mainly large valleys and hills with tight twisting roads, intertwined by dense forests.

You'll get some interesting air combat with this map.. that is, once I place down an airstrip 🙂 For now helis will have to do!

What happened to Corran, Scotland?

This new terrain is what Corran has evolved into. I found that the original 5KMx5KM was just not big enough, especially as the surrounding areas had such interesting terrain. I decided to increase the size from 5KMx5KM to 10KMx10KM, essentially quadrupling the total playable space:

OLD MAP AREA

This portion of the map is 90% complete and is very much playable.

NEW MAP AREA

This area is only 10-15% complete and is still very much a work in progress. There may be a few issues with ground combat but air combat will still be great, due to the large mountain and subsequent valleys dominating this portion of the terrain.

Hey, I found at least one further house that fits the theme.

I think it's perfect for an urban theme. It's part of the Rosche mod. Maybe the creator shares it.

Weirdly enough, I believe the source files for Rosche itself are available for download via WA Lancer's Google Drive - he might be up for sharing some of the assets, with due credit, as BeastHunter has pointed out.

Mmm, tbh not so sure about the Rosche assets, as a Scot I'd have to say the use of Livonia assets look just fine for creating an authentic piece of Scottish terrain.

Agreed. Mind you, until someone does a pebble-dashed council house model, Rural Scotland is never going to look exactly right in Arma. 3  🙂

This asset is nice, but red brick buildings are actually quite hard to come by in Scotland, most buildings are either either grey, white or wood. If there's any other suitable buildings from Rosche I'll talk to the creator about using them

I really wanted to add some council estate areas (where bams would be more of a threat than CSAT) but as you said, there's not many assets that capture the same feeling

That second pic is pretty good. Really close in look and vibe to what you tend to get. The Mull of Kintyre map has some really nicely done little council estates in it - not sure where the assets are from. Of course, this is a mostly rural map, and as others have said, there are quite a few buildings in the game and DLC which really aren't far off for that.
