Ride Where You Look
Pick your desired vehicle seat by looking, when: 

  • getting into a vehicle
  • switching seats inside a vehicle
  • hopping from one vehicle to another
  • in Zeus telling an AI which seat to take
  • ACE dragging/carrying/escorting (ACE not required)

Usage
In CBA Keybinds > Ride Where You Look, set up the keys [Show Seats] (L Ctrl) and [Select Seat] (Ctrl + X).
Press and hold [Show Seats] (L Ctrl) to see which seat you are selecting.
Press [Select Seat] (X) to move to that seat.

 

Client & Server   

This mod can be used client-side for player usage and Zeus controlling local AI. Zeus controlling remote AI will require all machines to load this mod.

Known Issues

Several issues can arise due to vehicle model inconsistencies:

  • Some proxies appear where there is no available seat
  • Some seats do not have proxies visible
  • Some vehicles do not switch you to the seat you're looking at

These issues need to be individually resolved with tweaks.

Wtf, how am I only seeing this now. Fu*king amazing dude, this is what we were talking about even in A2 days and is exactly the kind of stuff we need for A4. See BI, add some fancy seat outline highlighting and vehicle nightmare for A4 is no more.

Its amazing how much more intuitive this is, compared to F1-F(X) key switching from Battlefield games for example, even if it can be slower in hectic situations.

Hah, I was meaning to ask about that but tried it ingame on infamous triple stacked doors and it turns out triggers are improved over early A3 releases to a degree where I can say its... fine. Although those door within another warehouse door types can still be pretty wonky. Some ladders too, when trying to climb down.

Yeah, the detection became much better. Yet, the reason was, also back then, primarily to cleanup the scroll-menu. Which could easily be implemented in here too.

Hi,

 

there seems to be an issue with switching to right passenger seat (adjacent to door on right hand side) of Zamak truck in first person and icons. Works fine in 3rd person view.

 

Can you confirm?

Hi,

 

v1.2.4, when entering the seat using RWYL interface, selecting Eject or Get Out either through action menu or keybind switches seats rather then exit vehicle. Tested on Quilin regular and Minigun variant.

Cannot make a video, sorry but I narrowed the exact issue. It turns out this issue only occurs if you have both Arma 3's Use Default Action key and RWYL's Select Seat key bound to "Middle Mouse Btn." (MMB), keyAction[]={65538};.

If you enter Quilin's FFV 2 via RWYL MMB then you also kinda get locked into place, unable to use Free Look until you switch seat by getting out or ejecting. If you enter Quilin's driver seat via RWYL MMB, you can drive the vehicle and use Free Look but you do get switched into driver seat once again after getting out or ejecting. I don't remember this behavior in 1.2.1 but it may be that I just always entered the vehicle via Default Action and then switched seats via RWYL.

If i.e. "Num 0" is used for Select Seat then everything works fine.

 

I'm not sure if you can do anything about this but it is very convenient to have both actions on MMB and have Space act as a modifier. Detailed repro below either way.

 

Addons Used

- Arma 3 v2.02.147284 (latest stable)

- CBA v3.15.2.201119

- RWYL v1.2.4

 

Map: Virtual Reality

Vehicle: Quilin (Unarmed) - O_LSV_02_unarmed_F

Unit: Civilian Beggar - C_man_p_beggar_F 🙂

 

Arma 3 Keybindings

Use Default Action: "Middle Mouse Btn."

 

RWYL Keybindings

Show Seats (Hold): "Space"

Select Seat: "Middle Mouse Btn."

 

Steps to reproduce the issue

1. Approach the Quilin's left - USA driver side rear doors.

2. Use "Space" key to enter FFV 2. We are now sitting in FFV 2.

3. Use either 'Get Out' or 'Eject' and you will get switched into Driver seat.
