0x0000005 status_access_violation when just playing modded arma

Recommended Posts

I recently unloaded a bunch of mods from my mod list and now i'm getting status access violation. I verified arma 3 files, repaired loaded mods, restarted computer,  changed memory allocator, reset parameters to default, and changed Arma 3 exe privileges. Reading the rpt confuses me because it doesn't really indicate the exact few or many mods thats conflicting or giving me errors. What's ironic, is that unloading mods is causing the crash.

From my experience in modding, changing the load order can or can't resolve errors and crashes. For example, I loaded MCC sandbox at the bottom of my load order, which caused a "status access violation." So I tried to load mcc at the top of my load order, and I got no crashes. My Arma 3 launcher doesn't seem to want to auto-sort mods as it's supposed to do.

The launcher isn't supposed to load mods in any particular order because mods should be loadable in any order without causing crashes, if this isn't the case the mod you're using is broken.

Speaking off: you have mod conflicts:

I understand the conflicts and errors, I'm having trouble finding which mod is causing the multiple errors. Ace ai is already a pbo in the ace singleplayer add-on file. Yes, I do have a mod list that's really long and as I said, I'm trying to unload mods, but the more I unload mods that I don't need, the more my game gets Status access violation. None of the crashes happened at 156 mods, only started when I reached 129. And the launcher has auto sorted many times before. When I startup Arma with a mod preset that I  sorted myself, Arma 3 auto sorts mods into what it finds fit.

For example, "1:08:06 Conflicting addon Gorka_Config in 'Partiz\', previous definition in 'Dnight\" this is confusing me, rhs gorka, yue mod gorka, vsm gorka?

Do it the other way around, start from vanilla, keep adding.

Yeah, seems to be the only way. Sucks there's no load order optimization apps, or programs that are a better alternative to detect conflicts and patch mods to work with eachother, like Skyrim or fallout game modding apps. Modding is taken lightly I guess.

And the ACU config and g2 are probably from vsm, but they're conflicting with 3CD factions??? And gear from BundesPolizei und Spezialeinheiten are conflicting with themselves? The errors are odd and they're ghosting me.

I believe arma3sync will load your mods in the order you select, don't quote me on that.

And, by all means, write a program that does this conflict detection.

For example, sseedit is used to detect conflicts between mods and patch them in an efficient way in skyrim modding, And LOOT is a load order optimization tool (for skyrim, fallout...)

Still getting crashes the more I unload mods https://www.dropbox.com/s/fgfmr08614wkbk7/Arma3_x64_2020-05-28_17-12-37.rpt?dl=0

That CCPS_crysis mod has been throwing 812 errors in about 2 minutes... I'd suggest you get rid of that..

Stopped the crashes for a bit. But with the update of  spr mod,  i'm getting CTD's again. Unloaded that

The crashes are still happening, and I still can't pinpoint whats actually causing the CTD's. May be hard to believe but way before I used to run 139-157 mods with no crashes. Now at 117, any addition of a mod, map, any add-on that contributes to the rpt in any way, causes crashes. Sometimes they don't even add lines do the rpt, they just cause a crash.

I've said it before but I guess I'll say it again: remove all of your mods, keep adding until the crashes happen again.  When they start happening again it's the last mod that you added that is causing the issue (either on its own or in combination with some of the other mods you're running).

I am going to do that, but I have mods that seem to conflict with themselves. For example, with chernarus redux loaded I get "Conflicting addon DSHouses in 'CHR\chernarusredux_buildings\ds_houses\a2_housev_3i3\', previous definition in 'CHR\chernarusredux_buildings\ds_houses\a2_housev_3i4\" Potentially also being the cause of crashing. Could this be a RAM related issue? I messed around with a-xmp profiles and with xmp1 or xmp2, I get crashes with the same modlist. On the default ram speed, I get no crashes. I know it all comes down to mod conflicts, but as I said, it seems with the new upgrade  of ram I did, arma 3 is more stable when I set my ram speed to default.

Still can't pinpoint whats causing the crashes. Thought I got it down but after removing a single mod, I now get crashes again. I get rid of mods one by one and it just reaches a point where just getting rid of 30+ mods obviously "resolves" the crashes of course. I cleared steam cache, tuned down my ram oc in bios, verified arma 3 cache, which temporarily fixed the crashing but after 20 minutes of gameplay into a newly installed DRO scenario, I get a crash. And then it gets more frequent the more I start-up arma. Here's my most recent rpt I guess

I don't even know if steam validating arma 3 files is doing anything. I still have faction flag PAA's literally missing from contact, even after the verification of files.   https://www.dropbox.com/s/sr044sbuk6qv5co/Arma3_x64_2020-06-07_07-18-52.rpt?dl=0

You've been repeatedly given the solution to your problem.  That you don't want to do it isn't our fault.  But just for good measure I'll tell you once more how you fix this:

  1. Ditch all the mods
  2. Readd them 1 by 1
  3. When crashes happen again, the last mod or the last mod in combination with other mods, is the issue.

How am I gonna find out what combination of mods is causing crashes? What if it's one mod from the top of the mod list causing crashes with something from the middle of the mod list?

We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I'm doing the process of elimination and I got to 109 mods without crashes. Unloading TFM opfor solves the crashes on this test preset, but not on my main preset. Same for mLo, causes crashes. I don't know whats conflicting with them I ran both mods perfectly fine two weeks ago.

At 112 and now, adding any mod causes crashes.

What mods are you running exactly when it does crash you have a most recent rpt, i could give you an idea

as i have dabbled with alot of mods before in compilation mods, in all the games except the first one.

Use this to post your rpt https://justpaste.it/

Just open the rpt notepad, select all, copy, and then paste into that page, publish and share the link.

Apparently blastcore was causing the crashes for me. Added sps weapons and KT weapons to my modlist to test compatibility, and I got a crash, so I unloaded that😕

Your startup parameters:

-skipIntro -noSplash -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi_x64  -filePatching

==============

Some things:

1. To many mods running at the same time and i highly doubt your using all of them at once in a single mission.

My suggestion is to create profiles of certain mods based on some, a few, or a mission type you plan on playing.

More the merrier is not better when it comes to mods in this game.

2. -filePatching

Is not needed unless you have some open mods basically unpacked data which i could only guess gives more for the game to load.

I would remove those mods that are unpacked, and remove that parameter. Ideally imo its meant for testing at least thats what i would use it for.

3. -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi_x64

You basically have so many mods that eat up your resources that you need this to squeeze out any memory thats not being used.

Shouldn't need this if you ran but a few mods, even just running RHS, a sound mod, and a map is good enough.

I know Arma3 is a sandbox, but you basically put all the toys in the box and left no space for you to play, lol

seriously though what kinda of fps are you getting when the game isn't crashing?

4. Rpt

Your rpt is 20miles long, at this point set your launcher with no logs as when your rpt is spamming like it is

it will contribute to your game crashing, its eating up your memory as its writing.

5. Sound mods, AI mods, graphic mods, and major conversion mods

When running these together best to keep it simple, suggest only running one conversion mod, so either run RHS or unsung, not both,

you also have operation frenchpoint in there too, make up your mind, you want to be Russian, French, American, and Vietnamese too?

==========

Your problem is nothing new, i've seen to many posts like yours where the OP wants to run 100 mods at once and wonders why his game crashes

want to guess what everyone's answer who's game dont crash would be?  Lose some mods.

Lastly my only advice is make up your mind on what you want to use and create small mod profiles for certain mission types, modes, ect,.

test the profile and see how it runs.

Uhm. Thats the default. Setting that parameter does literally nothing.

I'll take all that to note. And, I'm trying to pinpoint what sensitive mod is conflicting with whatever. I can dumb down my list all I want and still have a sneaky mod causing crashes. I literally just made a 43 mod "modern-day war" preset and I got a crash. Modding arma 3 to the point where you're stressing it isn't something odd to do.

I've joined many friends' servers and downloaded their 70+ mod lists and never did I have crashes, despite how easily mods actually conflict and overwrite with each other all the time. Access violation isn't even always caused specifically by a mod.  I remember I was pulling out hair over my game crashing on my old 33 mod preset, and the fix was to set my parameters to default cause apparently my parameters were corrupt. Access violation is so common because of how standard it is. It's literally the only exit code I've been getting on this game and the RPT lacks being specific on what caused what at whatever time. As I said before, I even solved an access violation crash by setting my ram speed back to its default OC.

I'm no programmer and I definitely don't know what " Warning Message: '/' is not a value" means. I'm used to having and liking "big mod lists" as in other games there are programs that actually help you find conflicts and perfect your load order, unlike how lightly modding is taken here lol. Sensitive file operations don't do well with addons sadly.

But hey that's that, gotta adapt and overcome when it comes to learning about armas weaknesses. I apologize for my ignorance. Access violation is a very confusing exit code when there are many possible causes for it. Thanks for the solutions, recommendations on presets, and "process of elimination" with mods. I will definitely stay around to hopefully find or see a mod conflict detector program be made by someone.

But about the ram, I still have crashes on the same old "fixed" preset if I set my ram speed anywhere above 2133mhz, no matter the allocator. But turning on large page files gets rid of the CTD, even at the higher ram speed, only on the default windows allocator. Default bi Intel allocator causes crashes lol.
