ralphwiggum 6 Posted January 16, 2003 Chill, you are crossing a dangerous line here. I'm seriously getting unhappy about your flame baiting, thread topic killing posts. if you want to argue about something think before you do. next time you cross the line, instead of giving you a warning post like this, i'll PR or even permanently ban you. and others: please do not take the bait. it's already bad that there exists a bait, and hopefully we can stay on topic by not taking it. i know it's hard to do , but please do so. edit:back on topic. my korean colleagues say this info is known to everyone(S Koreans and others) since mid 60s. just that US public did not get it(more like we were not interested in it). so this is nothing new. from that point, i think it is just another case of news trying to increase knowledge base or have more current event to talk about. Chill 0 Posted January 16, 2003 http://www.spiritjournals.org/Updates....urt.htm The Court, which will be set up in the Hague ( news - web sites), Netherlands, early next year, is being created under the 1998 Rome Statute, an international treaty signed by almost 140 countries, that takes formal effect Monday, July 1. Despite strong opposition by the administration of President George W. Bush ( news - web sites), 69 countries have ratified the Statute to date. We ought to be exempt from [this court] so that there isn't any kind of political harassment...particularly when you know you're fighting the global war on terror and you know the terrorist training books are encouraging people to make...charges [of war crimes] and allegations, and you know the press prints them instantaneously," Rumsfeld told international reporters earlier this week... [End of story] Heres more! The United States of America was one of only 7 nations (joining China, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Qatar and Israel) to vote against the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in 1998. http://www.hrw.org/campaigns/icc/us.htm USA war crimes!! http://www.wsws.org/articles/2001/dec2001/pows-d13.shtml http://www.anti-imperialist.org/afghan_8-27-02.html http://www.workers.org/ww/2002/afghan0905.php No proof? Herhttp://www.icclr.law.ubc.ca/Publications/Reports/02NewsRelease2.PDFes more! "The U.S. says that the Court has too much unchecked power and fears that its prosecutor will be uncontrollable." http://www.unausa.org/newinde....ce=http The U.S. says that the ICC could investigate and prosecute U.S. leaders for the "crime of aggression" (that is, the unlawful use of force by one state against another, for example, Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990). So if thats not enough what more? And my veiws are not radical! They are the truth!

Longinius 1 Posted January 16, 2003 "I can hardly believe that a western soldier can do something like that. Even if a soldier is full of anger he will still have something like discipline." Western soldiers are humans, just like any other soldier. They are capable of terrifying things, and have done such actions time and time again all over the globe. I am not saying it happened in this situation, I am just saying that generally it has happened and it is still happening. As for these North Korean gulags. Well, US officials said this and former inmates said that. Ehm, proof thank you?

Maybe they'll let some social workers go in and inspect? Here at least you've got testimony from surviving guards and inmates. Picture it's 1943 in Europe and someone says "Well, US officials said this and former inmates said that. Ehm, proof thank you?". This article is a good start! Some VERY nasty things happened during the Vietnam war. I dont think it has to do with where you come from, more like what you have been exposed to. "What do you want? Interviews with the warden? Maybe they'll let some social workers go in and inspect?" First of, it might be a bit more credible if the UN reported this than the US during these times. It is not the first time rumors have been invented to villainise US enemies.

Longinius 1 Posted January 16, 2003 "Is it MNBC's fault that they discovered and publicized this?" No, I never said it was. But it doesnt make it any more true. Lots of media published the alleged murder of infant babies by Iraqi soldiers in Kuwait, something which turned out to be completely false and made up by a PR and Marketing firm. Longinius 1 Posted January 16, 2003 People interviewed a nurse who witnessed the acts in Kuwait aswell. How she could actually have witnessed something that didnt happen intregues me. In other words, she lied. Liars are easy to find. It could very well be true, these things reported from North Korea, but I will hold of believing it until someone who doesnt have a political agenda, that is connected with a source that can be trusted, is quoted.
