Combat Animations Speed Tweak

 

Description:

  • This addon sets custom speeds on selected animations of Arma 3, the goal is to return the combat pacing of Arma 2.
  • Some movements were sped up, others were slowed down trying to bring a cohesive realistic movement in 360 degrees in all stances and speeds from prone slow to tactical running.
  • Hopefully veterans will notice a huge difference while casual players will hardly notice any changes.
  • * Highly recommended to install ArmA3 Old Running Animation by MasterWolf (sprint animations) to complement Arma 2 animations.

  • Unzip to your mods folder.

 

Notes:

  • Untested in multiplayer.

 

Known issues:

  • ACE3 overwrites some animation speeds (compatibility patch included).
  • ACE3 + Arma 2 animations needs compatibility patch (included).
  • Ravage + Arma 2 animations needs compatibility patch (included).

Did or can you also speed up the weapon switching? Specifically to side arm...that is rediculously slow.

FYI technically you cant, Steam TOS states you can only upload something if you are the original author/creator, this TOS ignores any exceptions in the mod's license.

Didn't know that, thanks. But there's so many mods uploaded there with the message "This is not my mod blah blah...", i think another upload won't bother anyone. Anyone can upload there with my permission.

Correct, and they are all violating the steam subscriber agreement and our forum rules.

I have asked Foxhound to fix the license line regarding Steam on Armaholic already, i'm just waiting for him to see it.

Unarmed movement is pretty much done, only prone is still vanilla.

PS: Would love to see a video on your changes... I've always felt that A3's animations were more robotic and sudden than A2's more "Metal Gear" like animations.

Notice that you will get differences also on diagonals and sideways (and backwards) moves. Ah... forgot to add unarmed. 😋

Thank you @RCA3!

 

It is quite clear now that your animations, thou subtle, are less sudden and more in line with a veteran operator rather than an eager teenager of A3 default animations.

 

The only con is that the new animations make it look like are you moving slower when in fact you are not.

 

But I much prefers yours so I am 100% sold on your project now!

 

I hope you also work on some transition animations in the future since those look quite bad in some cases.

ACE Compatibility Patch:

It fixes the too fast (for me) running with rifle raised movement back to C.A.S.T. values when running ACE.

I don't think. I speak from experience.

And the avarage Arma3 avatar represents a well trained soldier and even SF guys. So they should beat me.

@Crielaard If you're referring to unholster from unarmed I agree with you is a bit slow, if else you're referring to switching from rifle, which I was, I don't considering he has to shoulder his rifle.

 

@domokun Hey man, I'd love to but I keep my Steam account private (another name) so not gonna happen. I'm not updating this much more though (but I know it sucks 🙁, sorry).

@RCA3 Agree. However, since Arma by default has no tactical sling, where you can just 'release' your weapon and it dangles on your chest, increasing that slinging anim speed would take care of that.

 

I tried the Tactical Slinging mod. But it is full of bugs.

The problem is it looks weird if you accelerate those anims that are already moving at a realistic speed. Both of them look to me they are at Arma2 speed, which is my goal more or less here. I may review the unarmed to pistol one though.
