Prequel mission to Lexx's Arma 3 Dunes campaign RELEASED

Recommended Posts

Dunes The Informant

This project is a single player mission, it will take place on Lexx's Dunes map, and you will play as the same character (Franklin) as you did in the campaign. You are tasked with meeting the informant mentioned in the campaign, and debriefing him to determine if the intel he is providing you is legitimate.

Mission can be found here

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1756950588

Requires

Arma 3 Dunes

*NOTE*  Guys, be sure to have your music turned on, I'm using a music file to play a sound effect.

Please leave feedback, if you think there are too many enemy units, let me know, I can tweak the mission.

If you enjoy the mission, please consider rating, and commenting on Steam, it helps promote the mission, thanks.

Special thanks to Lexx for his work creating the awesome desert terrain, and campaign that was the inspiration for this mission.

So stoked for this!

Thanks man, I hope the people that played the campaign will enjoy this one as well.

I wish I had more time to create a more detailed story line, and more variety to the game play. However, I think the mission/story still does a nice job of filling in a few of the details leading into the campaign.

Here's a few more pics from the mission.

I'm already on it guys.

Lexx's Dunes terrain has a dust storm function built in, and it creates a nice effect.

Guys, I should be able to have this released tomorrow (Friday).

Here's one more WIP pic.

Great! My friday night is set then. Are we on foot the whole time? No choppers or wheeled vehicles?

On foot the whole time.

Because the map is so small (2k x 2k ) I had to get creative making the map seem like a different part of the Malian desert from the campaign. It meant  putting little settlements over the map, and you zigzag across the map as you go. Because of that, if I gave the player a vehicle, it would be too easy for them to break the mission.

Because you're moving on foot, the mission does start a little slow (action wise), but hang in there, I promise there will be no shortage of action. In fact, I wonder if there may be too many enemy soldiers. If you think there are too many bad guys, let me know, I can certainly tweak things.

I hope to have the mission out in the next couple of hours.

Spoiler

I an playing through now. It's really good. I've equipped myself with a recce rifle with a scope and my team mate with a DMR. It's absolutely the right choice. I always enjoy your set ups and simple cut scenes. I like the way you've placed objects around, it's easy to immerse yourself. I've just found Omar, and working myself through the town.

The defend object is cool, not too many enemies imo. However, I feel the desert dust wind could be tuned down a notch.    Alright, going to finish now!

Spoiler

Nevermind, I see now that it's the device that's causing it. Science Bitch!

Instead of "The End" you should have it say "To be continued in Lexx's Dunes".

Great work bro!

It may be more enjoyable for others if you throw some tags over those posts. 😉

Thanks buddy.

I added the scene with the device at the last minute, I'm glad I did, it adds a little more to the overall story.

You're right, maybe put in, To be continued at the end.

I'm guessing nobody will get the little Easter egg at the very end.

I was finally able to check it out. Really good! Loved the ending.

Btw. the device and its effects are exactly as I had intended. 😛

Thanks Lexx.

I really liked your campaign, and loved the story line, I wanted more, so I was inspired to make something. I love how your Dunes terrain has almost nothing on it, it's a blank canvas. I had so much fun placing structures, and objects creating the little settlements/towns in my mission.

The little scene with he device was added at the last minute, it just seemed right, and added another little piece to the overall story.
