[sp_camp] Dark Tides

I was hoping to get this out before Xmas, partly because there are some holiday themes in the later part of the campaign. However the last half of December is busier than normal, and I have one "problem child" mission (plus a few minor things to cleanup). I am now aiming for early to mid-January.

Please do! I´ll be on work vacacions and my anniversary is 26th January (wink wink)

JK, take your time, but this timeframe suits me greatly lol

Cheers!

After reviewing the campaign and my notes that I made before I started, I found that I didn't resolve one plot point. I am adding one more mission to the campaign to rectify that. Also I made 2 versions of the "Russian mini-campaign", one on Beketov, one on Livonia. This is part of Dark Tides, I'm just referring to the missions where you play as a Russian paratrooper. I prefer the Livonia version, and the campaign uses some chemical warfare assets such as the chemical detector which require the Contact DLC to work. Thus, I am going to require Contact. I'm sure this time 😄

If you don't have Contact, it is on sale right now.... but otherwise let me know and I will provide the Beketov version upon release as a direct download only. I won't update or support that version. Livonia will be the official version that goes up on Steam. In either case, Apex is required because of Tanoa. There's a temple mission inspired by a certain movie in there, and one of the campaign endings is on Tanoa.

Ok guys --- I have a hidden post above this one. It happens *everytime* I mention a certain BIS map set in Poland.

Also, my first post gets a moderator flag everytime I edit it.

Needless to say ... it's frustrating 🙁

I can't say why you previous post was hidden. But your first post is getting hidden correctly, as your first post has lots of links outside of the forum. Which is triggering the anti-spam protection.

I reduced my first post to one outside link (my own domain), but apparently that still triggers antispam.

All of my links broke in my browser as of today, so I've been reuploading to another domain. Here are a few that may or may not exist in other posts.

Great pics, and also great that my browser can see them now!  Love the low fog, the joyous xmas tree, the DOG!!!!, and the social distanced rave action.

I've been spending way too long on a particular mission. I don't have a lot of past experience with mass combat type scenarios, and the problem I'm having is that friendly "AI only" squads have trouble following orders in some areas. I have "autocombat" disabled which helps to some degree. I suspect most of the issues are related to AI path finding in and around a particular town. I've seen one AI squad go about halfway on their waypoint and stop, and the units will start fidgeting in place like they can't decide what direction to go. I've seen another squad pretty much say "forget this" and ignore their waypoint and head back the way they came at a slow walk. I have seen tanks also ignore the easy route to their next waypoint and head south and try to drive up a tree. Another problem is that even when squads do follow their waypoints, they will sometimes resort to a slow walk regardless of the speed mode or behavior. If anyone has suggestions, let me know.

I have resolved the weird behaviors in this mission.

I can't believe it's already mid-Feb. I am almost done making changes. I kept finding ways to improve some parts of the campaign and turned out to be a lot of work. I'm in the editor almost every day, and I'm anxious to get it released so I can start my next project.

Soon. Very soon.

Wow!  The trailer is a stunner.  I'm really looking forward to the campaign.

Everybody:  I was privileged enough to play test some of the earlier missions and can say you are all in for a treat!  AZ Coder is the great campaign maker of our time.  ARMA3 is still relevant!

Loved the trailer, excellent work man. :rthumb:

Arma 3 is indeed still relevant, 7 years down the line and it's still producing great content.

I may eccho those words! Waiting anxiously for the conclusion of "the Gates of Armaggedon" trilogy, in a few days the wait will be over! YAY! DOUBLE YAY!

Thanks for this amazing storytelling experience and keep up the great work, AZ! =D

PS1: The Showdown between Denmark and the SEAL guys will surely be EPIC =D
PS2: No romance scene? The Witcher, Mass Effect and Cyberpunk 2077 made me addicted to "gaming soft porn" lol
PS3: johnnyboy , I´m still waiting for the 3rd Cojones episode.. please, don´t give up on your IP series 8D (and sell the rights to Netflix)
PS4: I don´t have it
PS5: Neither a PS5, I´m a PC gamer, for f%$# sake lol

PS1: Won't be easy

PS2: This is DARK Tides, not Light Tides. :D

Actually I cut a lot of content from the trailer, it was getting too long. That being said, there's a 3 sec bedroom scene in the 2nd mission, easy to miss...  And if you can find her, a girl will briefly flirt with you in the 3rd mission (the beach party).

PS3: Yes

PS4: I have one

PS5: no

I will release tomorrow. It takes me 2 days to run through the campaign and I had a number of relatively small bugs that I found and fixed and retested, and a couple doozies that I fixed as well. Needs about an hour of my time to release and I'm too tired for it tonight.

After release, pour yourself a tall frag juice and savor the feeling of accomplishment.

Sounds like the right idea! Releasing a campaign is a lot of work! I should have it up in an hour or two. I've bought cars with less effort than this process.

Already having a blast =D
BTW, which Max_Women is recommended? Women at Work or Max Women (I´ve activated both just in case, but since there´s two women mods from Max, pple can confuse) and Immersion CIgs updated yesterday (animations for lighting up and puting down cigs added, so much better)

Ok, lemme talk less and play more! (one more praise: AzCoder, your campaigns make ArmA3 still worthwhile, all the attention to small ambience details, prop usage, dialogs, wow, BIS dev should hire you for a CDLC 8D

Cheers!

I moved all links to my personal website because this forum kept blocking my updates due to using external links (see first posting for link to my website). There I have all of the mods linked up, such as Max Women. Also, just curious, do Women at Work come from a land down under?
