Notepad++ problem

Hi

I'm using custom syntax highlighter for notepad++ to edit sqf scripts but sometimes the highlighting breaks and font colors gets messy. I wonder if anyone else has this problem?

It used to work on my old PC but when I got new one the notepad++ has not worked properly

 

Also arma conf highlighting is buggy in same way

Screenshot? not at the time but I can take one next time it breaks, it doesn't always break so reproducing the bug can be tricky. Basically the font colors are all messed up.

Notepad++ isn't very reliable in my experience; I switched to Sublime Text some time ago, and never had any issue with it : https://www.sublimetext.com/

It supports SQF syntax (but you have to update the syntax library yourself iirc).

It always worked perfectly in my old PC. I don't know what's so different with this one. OS is different, was win 7 then now win 10. But always 64bit OS.

This behavior started after an update a few months ago. I found it can be reset by deleting/retyping some element of the code, most often it's a closing bracket.

Really, others have same problem? I always restart notepad++ to fix it

Restarting doesn't work for me. Not sure if we're using the same highlighter, so I assume this is an issue with a change in N++ conflicting with custom syntax highlighters in general?

I have tried with 3 code highlight setups but they all fail. Seems to me it's a bug in N++ but haven't yet verified this by trying the default code highlights because the bug is difficult to reproduce

If I close the SQF then reopen it .... fixes it.

Reloading the file also fixes it

 

Having my reload file key binding set now 🙂

n++ itself is a problem 🙂 look out for a better editor to save yourself more pain
