Missile Lock-after-launc

Recently they added lock after launch capability to various missiles, but I can't quite figure out how it works, and in simple tests, have never got an AA missile to hit a desired target when fired in its general direction.

The only thing that seems to work is LOAL on the GBUs.

 

Can anyone explain what weapons can LOAL and how to use it?

That answers nothing about the lock after launch mechanic.

Do some testing, spawn an unarmed shikra or something in the editor and fly behind it and shoot at various ranges and angles with various missiles and let us know :)
