d3rrial 10 Posted July 7, 2018 Why can people with the Linux client still not connect to the larger multiplayer network? Almost nobody is running legacy servers for Linux users, so almost nobody is playing this game on Linux either... If you're gonna make the effort to port this game to Linux, at least also make the effort to let the Linux players play with their Windows using friends... I would understand if there was some huge feature incompatibility here, but we're talking about a constant difference of 2 minor release versions. This is not some insurmountable barrier, especially since you're not letting Linux catch up on purpose and have it fixed at being 2 minor releases behind. It's pretty infuriating... They are connecting to the same multiplayer network as anyone else. Aka the Steam Query service. Linux users can't play with windows users because the game versions are different. Different versions are incompatible with eachother. Hotfixes happen very rarely. On 7.7.2018 at 8:46 AM, d3rrial said: If you're gonna make the effort to port this game to Linux Bohemia isn't making the port. All your questions are probably answered here: https://dev.arma3.com/ports It's a experimental beta test.
longhead 10 Posted April 13, 2021 Why does Bohemia not want to support the game on Linux? There are working versions, but this is keeping a considerable player base from playing the game in multiplayer. It should be a minor effort to target Linux for the recent versions too, and it would be greatly appreciated. Also it would support the open software ecosystems mostly Linux users are building.
