sw2 0 Posted December 17, 2002 I've just ordered Resistance and wondered what everyone thought of it. How does it compare with the orginal game (OFP Gold Edition)?

cybrid 0 Posted December 18, 2002 I just got it for my birthday a few days ago. I am hooked beyond belief, and the island of nogova is a far superior battle feild to the old maps. Its also by far the biggest.

Mr. Snrub 0 Posted December 18, 2002 The best $60 (or whatever it was) I've ever spent...OFP was really good, but Resistance adds a whole new dimension to it. Nogova's size and new buildings/vegetation etc. will keep you amused for a long time. I've had it for a few months now, and I still haven't explored every bit of it. Without Res. you wouldn't be able to use some of the great new addons coming out as well...
LowLevelFunctionary 0 Posted December 18, 2002 basicly it kicks arse. Chicken tikka anyone? P.S. BUY IT

Plus the additional gameplay elements of having to conserve/gather/steal equipment makes it that much more in-depth. The graphics are a step above the OFP:CWC graphics, although to have the really top-notch settings running the game smoothly, you'll need a ridiculously fast computer. Still, the graphics are much better than before - the textures are much more detailed, and the light effects are great. Anyway, since you have it on order, i'd wait until it comes and see what it has - discovering new features is half the fun
sw2 0 Posted December 19, 2002 Thanks for the info Mr. Snrub. Resistance is supposed to be arriving today so I'll give it a go when I've got a few (continuous) hours to spare. I've just got a nice new 21-inch monitor and I can't wait to see what OFP looks like on it.
Kermit 0 Posted December 19, 2002 And I say it sucks ass compared to the original. I still play the original.

mr. Duck 0 Posted December 19, 2002 If you have a low-end system, resistance WILL suck. But if you don't, well, it's good. Way better than the original. -better graphics -pistols -larger island etc...

The box is so huge I can literally get inside and close the lid (no, I'm not exaggerating). It's an IBM P275 flat screen aperture grille CRT job - stupidly expensive but absolutely stunning image quality - incredibly bright and razor sharp. Even on low res it's looks fantastic - best picture I've ever seen on a PC monitor (and I've seen a few as I work in television). I can't stop looking at the thing so it was well worth the money. (Have a look at IBM's site for a pic). Having said all that, it is mind-boggingly heavy, an instant hernia job. I can barely lift the thing and now I'm going to have to reinforce the floor!!! Still, who cares, this is a stunning piece of kit - did I say that already?

Seriously though, it actually runs pretty cool - it's been on continuously now for around 5-6 hours and I'd say it's no hotter than a 15 inch.
