Ofp movies

Recommended Posts

Hello all I've been playing OFP for a little over a year and I'd like to start making movies in Windows media format, similar to the trailors that Codemasters and BIS release for flashpoint. I'm curious I've got some software which allows me to capture an area of the screen although quite small. I can make the video's work recording FS2002 in windows mode (if you record in full screen you lose frames no way around this with this particular software).

Now I assume the video's that are made such as trailors ect, are made using an mission intro for OFP. No big deal there. However I am curious as to how you capture this from the sxcreen (or if you even need to) and then convert it over to Windows Media Player. Or are you just able to De-Pbo the mission PBO file and somehow covert the intro to Windows Media Format?

Any advice, comments, or suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Hi Gazoo,

I've made a few movies latley, (and slowy making one for avons o/mtv), and have done so using an average tv / video capture card, with the source fed from a second computer.

For a while it didnt seem to work, with skips and stuff in the recording.

But lately i started recording in uncompressed .avi format, and it is ideal. Frame rate is high, and quality looks like the game itself. This results in huge files, like 500 meg for 20-30 seconds, but from there you have the option to compress it to whatever quality / size / format you desire.

Avi files are also alot easier to work with when it comes to editing the footage, as mpeg can take heaps of CPU usage, and can generally be a pain when they do that.

So thats my tip, use a capture card if you can, and .avi to record and edit, though mpeg-2/4 is best for final export in my experience so far, havent tried windows media yet.

And you also can use ingame footage and recorded cutscenes, its really up to you, have fun  smile.gif

Thanks.....what software are you using.....I don't have a second computer available to me and I too am using large .avi files to capture however the current software I use just isn't cutting the mustard. I make the movies for FS2002 in .AVI then edit slap on an audio track and convert to Win Media Player. As Win Media player makes the file much smaller and easier to transfer or host.

Ulead Video Studio 6. There is much better software around than that, but it does the job, and is easy to use.
