Why T-140 Angara doesn't have any sensor/radar and why commander variant T-140K have one, but it isn't active radar. If I understand the concept correctly, it means that commander tank T-140K spot enemies and share information with its platoon via datalink, so how the non-commander tank without any sensors must receive this data?

It's not like that. The commander variant is the one that receives data from other sources, which the commander can then use to order other, regular tanks around.

It makes sense, but I think that it'd be more convenient if a commander can share data that he's received, not just order.

Stupid question, but how does this datalink works?

I know it was introduced with jets, but never used it.

Well, your sensors sync with others and when you look at sensor/radar window you would receive not only your data but all available sharing data

Targets detected by one vehicle can be seen by other vehicles on their own sensor display.

If weapons/ammo is equipped with data link sensor too the weapon can be locked onto the target without the weapon carrying vehicle even detecting the target.

You can try it easily with the new AAF vehicles:

1. Place the anti-air vehicle behind a mountain and be the commander.

2. Place an enemy helicopter on the other side of the mountain.

Start the game and you'll see that... you see nothing.

Now modify the setup:

1. Place the anti-air vehicle behind a mountain and be the commander.

2. Place the recon vehicle somewhere else and activate the radar (AI should do this automatically, I think).

3. Place an enemy helicopter on the other side of the mountain.

Start the game and check the radar. You should now see the enemy helicopter.

Ok.

But is there an option to activate it when placing a unit? Or is it automatic?

There are some options about that datalink thing when you double click on a vehicle.

Some vehicles have it enabled by default, on others you can use those options to turn it on. On the former, the options can be used to turn it off for whatever reason, as well.
