run arma3 without steam

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I wanna know if its possible to run arma3 server and client without Steam ?.

perhaps you need to so something for it but steam is getting to big , to much on my pc and its just a freaking tool to load server list and thats all you need it for .

So it would be nice to delete that crappy steam bs and run our games without .

Anyone has tips or suggestions other than you need steam ?

greetings .

Unfortunately steam is a requirement of Arma3. Also i am unsure what you mean that steam is getting to big, care to clarify?

As Roadkill said, you can't run Arma3 without Steam (since it also acts as a DRM), but there are a few things you can do to alleviate the performance impact :

- launch Steam in Offline mode before playing.

- disable the Steam overlay.

- set the Arma3 launcher to close itself after launching the game.

Hope that helps.

Gamespy was used for the server browser, but it wasn't needed to make OFP run.

I created an account specifically to post this message.

I have flown military grade combat simulators for almost 20 years. In that time I've seen ArmA 2 and ArmA 3 come out. I won't get into why I reject Steam, but I categorically will never have Steam on my computer again. For several years, I had wanted ArmA but the Steam problem stopped me.

For the record, Bohemia, I will pay twice, maybe three times what you are asking for this game providing I don't have to have Steam to run it. As you have said above, running without Steam is impossible. Therefore....

I am so sad this is the case. Your software, from what I have seen (and everyone else has seen, too) this is an awesome FPS simulator.
