DESCRIPTION :
======================

The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) AV-8B Harrier II is a single-engine ground-attack aircraft that constitutes the second generation of the Harrier Jump Jet family. Capable of vertical or short takeoff and landing (V/STOL), the aircraft was designed in the late 1970s as an Anglo-American development of the British Hawker Siddeley Harrier, the first operational V/STOL aircraft. Named after a bird of prey, it is primarily employed on light attack or multi-role missions, ranging from close air support of ground troops to armed reconnaissance. The AV-8B is used by the United States Marine Corps (USMC), the Spanish Navy, and the Italian Navy. A variant of the AV-8B, the British Aerospace Harrier II, was developed for the British military, while another, the TAV-8B, is a dedicated two-seat trainer.

Typically operated from small aircraft carriers, large amphibious assault ships and simple forward operating bases, AV-8Bs have participated in numerous military and humanitarian operations, proving themselves versatile assets. U.S. Army General Norman Schwarzkopf named the USMC Harrier II as one of several important weapons in the Gulf War. The aircraft took part in combat during the Iraq War beginning in 2003. The Harrier II has served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan since 2001, and was used in Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya in 2011. Italian and Spanish Harrier IIs have taken part in overseas conflicts in conjunction with NATO coalitions. During its service history, the AV-8B has had a high accident rate, related to the percentage of time spent in critical take-off and landing phases. USMC and Italian Navy AV-8Bs are to be replaced by the Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II, with the former expected to operate its Harriers until 2025.

Outstanding as per usual, I was wondering if there is a chance of a texture template at all?

Awesome! Great to see a standalone Harrier, and with massive detail as always from yourself! Only thing I would recommend is to adjust the performance of the aircraft slightly, the low speed forward thrust and turning capabilities are a little too good at the moment I think, performs great at high speeds though!

Awesome work man, only thing I've found is its hard to pull of a vertical take-off because you cant adjust the nozzles with 0% throttle

well, that's need to explain some boring technical background.

in real life, harrier can't simply do the vertical take-off when armed. because weight problem.

Maximum useful load (include fuel, stores, weapons, ammunition and water injection for engine)

Vertical takeoff : Approximately 3,062 kg

STO : More than 7,710 kg

so mostly harrier use the STO(short take off) on operation, specially when armed.

in game, arma 3 supported several vtol types such as

vtol = 0; // A-164 Wipeout, not a VTOL aircraft

vtol = 1; // F-35B, Vertical Take Off and Landing, Start horizontal (nozzles/nacelles @ 0°)

vtol = 2; // AV-8B Harrier, Short Take Off/Vertical Landing

vtol = 3; // V-44 Blackfish, VTOL using a vectoring near the ground (to avoid blades collision with ground)

vtol = 4; // Y-32 Xi'an, Vertical Take Off and Landing, Start vertical (nozzles/nacelles @ 90°)

2 - STOVL, vectoring limitation on slow speed
default 1.0 vectoring (nozzles/nacelles horizontal @ 0°)
limited 0.0 maximum vectoring (nozzles/nacelles horizontal @ 0°) below 5 km/h

like i said above, take off is STO for harrier so i choose the no.2 for Vtol setting. that's why you can't simply doing the vertical take-off. it's natural. not a bug or something.

These look pretty cool, fixed wings in A3 isn't my thing, the skins could do with a bit of "weathering" though, they look too pristine to me.. nice addition though.

Great mod! Thank you! However there are some issues i have noticed yesterday:

1) No engine sound

2) In the loadout menu, the current load out slots appear empty (do not see the current loadout), and if i change only 1 pilon the result after rearming is all other pilons will be empty. The only solution is to reselect all pilons which is quite time consuming. Maybe this is done on purpose?

3) Before entering the aircraft, in Arma´s quick selection menu the options to deploy mirrors and panel lights appear. I believe these should be available only once sitting in the cockpit?

4) Deceleration on the aircraft is really, really long, as if you had a really strong inertia, even in a dirty configuration. Maybe this could be tweaked a little? Loosing speed without gaining altitude without flaps deployed is hardly achievable. Speaking as a RL commercial pilot.

Thank you very much for your great job!

Hello everybody:

How to take off from LHD wasp with an av-8b + from IA:

put a name to the av-8b, for example avion.

1.- change in the config of the av-8b + the variable VTOL of vtol = 2; to vtol = 4; that way it takes off in vertical mode.

2.- select addon CUP  LHD mod  andd put in the map.

3.- select a av-8a +  in the Stern of the LHD, in the area of white lines. It must be aligned with the yellow line. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

4.- put a WAYPOINT of movement from the plane to the objective

5.- fly

how to land in LHD

1.- put a deck from LHD invisible helipad

2.- Conect with av-8b +, put a WAYPOINT "download transport" in the position of invisible helipad

3.- in the waypont in condition,  write:

      avion land "LAND";

Awesome to see someone taking that Harrier further than ever! Where did you get those awesome textures? Did you use mine as a basis? Looks great!!

Can send you some files if you need them. As I started working on an italian version and various british ones in the past!

i did UV map overhaul/remake for this work, and i just remember you released the template for original harrier now. mean doesn't know about your template when i make. mostly took data from real photo reference include googling.

when after update british harrier(currently making ADEN 30/25mm gun pod for older version preparation), i'll release template for retexture.
