Update

Hey guys i ran into something, a fluke!

I should have tested this, but..... i just discovered that all the weapons for RHS work, i discovered this when i was playing a mission i created and picked up a

Russian Ak and it zoomed, i was not expecting that.

Seems that the base classes, and the weaponcore values allowed the other factions of RHS to work, all without me having to implement the classes for each weapon.

    When i was working on the config i was only adding the USAF (USA) faction, then from there I'd do the Russians and then the other two well they all work!

So just letting you know for the RHS version

  • USAF
  • AFRF
  • GREF
  • SSAF

as per the OP

The weapons this works for includes the following:

  • Rifles
  • Semi-Rifles
  • Assault Rifles
  • Sub-machine guns
  • Machine guns
  • Pistols
  • AT launchers
  • Vanilla Arma 3/Apex/Marksman DLC's weapon attachments

My plans now are to move on to SMA weapons which is this mod http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=26428

Update

Added video to the OP for the RHS version

My next work for this as said in my previous post, is a version for SMA - Specialist Military Arms

At the same time im going to be looking into adding an option to turn off/toggle with a key so you can use the weaponSight zoom on the fly when you need or want to use it vs having it on all the time.

    Im trying to avoid using the action menu as in a firefight the weaponSight zoom will help you, but if you have to fiddle with the action menu i feel it could hinder you then just

pressing a button that you have allocated for the zoom option.  All for now.

Awesome work Gunter. Thank you.

 I've tried again and again for 3 years now too combine different keybinds , just so I could zoom without holding down MB2.

( Just found this thread, so I haven't tested it yet ) But I think we must be able to toggle this, or else it will come with a hefty penalty in many situations.

Keep up the good work :-)

Hi Thanks, to answer your question, no its not togglable, or is there any keybind option to turn it on and off.

I was looking into it a little, I had asked Bad Benson about his key binding config from his Enhanced movement mod as he has something i want to implement, so after sending him a pm a while back,

i didn't get a response til like a month later he was rather busy, and just told me to look at a certain file of his mod, i been meaning to do it but my job hopefully rearing its end of its busy season

can allow me to get home and not feel completely burnt out and useless.

     I plan to take a look again when spring starts up here, try it out and play around with it and see what you think, for me i wont and cant play without it, im used to it so i time it based on what situation im in.

As for what i said here in my previous post, i changed my mind on doing SMA, i dont play with the mod and never have the sounds of the guns do nothing for me when i did play test,

i prefer and like CUP, vanilla, and RHS weapons, and sounds, i'd rather not work on something that doesn't interest me tbh.

I love people that mock me, and think that Kju and Rydygier created this mod for me to release with me getting all the credits, really!?

@.kju and @Rydygier did i not just ask you guys some questions about some things for configs, and classnames for this mod?

I mean seriously i got commenter  on the workshop making a comment that because i cant code, or what have you that you guys did all the

coding and i released it with your guy's permission.

Why cant i get any fucking respect in this community because i actually created something that no one else in the community here created!?

Just because im not a coder, or scripter, or not interested in it, nor have the patience for it dont mean im not capable of creating something like this

obviously i have, i only asked Kju, and Rydygier for their help and insight into something i didn't understand, or needed help with, how is that them doing the work?

One of my pet peeves is when someone "accuses" me of something that isn't true whatever the context maybe, im a down to earth, honest and sincere person

i will give you the shirt off my back just so you can play Arma3 if you really wanted it, and i've done it, not my shirt of course, lol but seriously.

Am and i was i known in the past for not creating something that i did not do and taking the credits for it?    I seriously been on these forums for the past 10 years,

and almost all the major modders from arma1, to arma3 here know me and my work in the community, they know my demeanor, and have an idea on how i carry on with things

idk how many hundreds of times i had a conversation with many modders about permissions, credits, ect,.

    Lets see you sit down for 6 months compiling 300+ mods and testing them and go spend 3-4 weeks of your free time with a full time job mind you after work when your tired as fuck

and send a pm/email 150+ modders to get permission from them, ya i didn't think so.

           Did i hear anyone build a Utube channel for another well known modder of a very popular mod, and continues to maintain the support for it weekly, oh..... that was me, my bad apparently

thats to much for some people to accept that i did that.

Who was that guy that compiled all the missions and files on the official Iron front Forums back in 2012, sort them all into categories, and then go off on his own build a website, spend years building and adding to it while

paying for it along with a domain name to support a game and the fans of it he loves, oh that was me............. again hmmm i guess my work isn't sincerely mine, i guess someone else did all that shit huh?

How about this massive Compilation thread that this guy started in 2014 for AI, thats alot of work, i guess that was done by ..... hmmm i dont recall his name, oh! that was built by me too, there was another one for WW2,

that i swear was done by me, idk maybe some other person did it, sat there for 4hrs straight sorting everything, spending all his free time to undue the clusterfuck that steam cant seem to organize.

Its funny i didnt do any of it, my cat did, while i was at work.

Piss off troll!

What are you creating, and doing for the community?

Make sure your shit dont stink before you think you got the right to give it to others.        I got your code right here :wave-finger:

It's damn sad to read, someone's mocking you/your work, Gunter. Very reckless judgement and very injust.

To make this clear: I'm NOT the author nor even co-author of WeaponSights Zoom mod.

Yes, long time ago Gunter approached me with some questions about how configs/modifying them works in context of this mod and I gave him some answers/insights/examples on the basics as much, as I was able, as configs never was my speciality, but that's it IIRC. Showing the way is one thing, following it is another.

Thanks, ya wreckless judgment indeed.

i know i blew the small comment of this guy's out of proportion with my previous response here but it bothers me that one moment you have someone asking for

more features, or wanting to help to further the mod, and teach you this or that about code, and then come back about a year later and mock you like you

didn't create the mod because no your not interested, im like wtf dude!?

In all honesty i was and not interested, at that time in November starts the busy season, and those days im doing 12-14hr days, add the 2hrs

to and from work to travel and im lucky i got anything left over for energy to work on something i enjoy, looking at code for me is work because i know shit from nothing

dont get me wrong i will try if i can identify something out of it and if i think its worth my time, but to go and create it from scratch really isn't my thing, if it was i would be doing it.

Only coding i've ever done and actually learned was a script program for the Performa called Hypercard back in the early 90's when i got my 1st computer, i learned how to create and organize a compilation

of various subject that had different links to files, different times, mindset, energy, and maturity back then, people change.

Hey Gunter, I was working on expanding this mod to the cdlcs. It's my first time making a config mod, and I need some assistance I guess. I've been working on the Prairie fire CDLC first.

Here's what I have so far:

    class vn_rifle: Rifle_Base_F

    {

        opticsZoomMin = 0.25;

        opticsZoomMax = 0.5;

        opticsZoomInit = 0.25;//0.75;

    };

    class vn_rifle762: vn_rifle

    {

        opticsZoomMin = 0.25;

        opticsZoomMax = 0.5;

        opticsZoomInit = 0.25;//0.75;

    };

    class vn_smg: vn_rifle

    {

        opticsZoomMin = 0.25;

        opticsZoomMax = 0.5;

        opticsZoomInit = 0.25;//0.75;

    };

    class vn_lmg: vn_rifle

    {

        opticsZoomMin = 0.25;

        opticsZoomMax = 0.5;

        opticsZoomInit = 0.25;//0.75;

    };

    class vn_shotgun: vn_rifle

    {

        opticsZoomMin = 0.25;

        opticsZoomMax = 0.5;

        opticsZoomInit = 0.25;//0.75;

    };

    class vn_Launcher_Base_F: Launcher_Base_F

    {

        opticsZoomMin = 0.25;

        opticsZoomMax = 0.5;

        opticsZoomInit = 0.25;//0.75;

    };

    class vn_pistol: Pistol_Base_F

    {

        opticsZoomMin = 0.25;

        opticsZoomMax = 0.5;

        opticsZoomInit = 0.25;//0.75;

    };

Basically, I think I put in the correct classnames since most of the weapons are working. The m16, m14, m60, m63(stoner), m79, l1a1, pistols, and launchers aren't working with this setup so far above. The new ww2 weapons just added in the 1.3 update work with this setup. So, I was just hoping to ask you if I missed anything or wrote something wrong. I've been looking through the structure of the guns that didn't work, and I couldn't really find any classnames I missed.

1st welcome to BI forums!

2nd, I need to see your entire config, not just the classnames you used, because if your missing whats required then none of it will work.

You've got the right idea with what you posted, but those arent working because you might be missing the class core file that those classnames are from,

you might also be missing the correct addons too.

Take a look at WeaponSight Zoom config i pasted it to website called

Codeshare:

https://codeshare.io/j0BOOB

Use it as an example, even a template if you want, but post your whole config and then i can get a better idea

of where your at and maybe tell you why its not working.

I don't know how I would be missing the correct addons if it's a dlc haha.

The CDDLC's have their own folder, you need to get the config information from the files themselves, you can do that through the config viewer ingame

or open the files themselves though with CDDLCs they are probably encrypted i presume.

But this:

requiredAddons[] = {"A3_Weapons_F","A3_Weapons_F_Acc","A3_Weapons_F_beta","A3_Weapons_F_Beta_Acc","A3_Weapons_F_gamma","A3_Weapons_F_gamma_Acc","A3_Weapons_F_EPA","A3_Weapons_F_EPA_Acc"};

};

You need to list those pbos with the weapons in them, like you see with the vanilla ones here.

Would I need to do anything else still? I put in all the weapon pbos I could find into the requiredAddons, but it still didn't work on the m14, m60, and l1a1. Everything else worked now though.

I looked through the config viewer again for class names. The m14 / l1a1 uses vn_rifle762, and the m60 uses the vn_lmg class names.

Edit: Also is there a way to see what pbos a weapon is from?

Normally if the pbo's arent encrypted you can just use pbomanager and just open the pbo not extract them,

and look at the files through the window and you should be able to see what weapons are in them, what folders their in.

  My suggestion is to just list all the addons with names that have weapon in their name assuming that files contains weapons

at least then you'll have all the weapons and you wont miss anything. Other then that idk.

23 hours ago, WheelAxle said:

The key is the classnames and cores the classes are from, so look at your config and determine what one of the weapons

that dont work is and then looking at what the cores are for you could put the weapon classname into that, thats just guessing

and not the best nor the way to do it, but i did that by trial and error but at the same time looking at the configs which helped.

    I used the RHS website which had all the classnames for the RHS stuff and the rest i think i looked at the files themselves.

  As for SOG if they have a website listing the classnames for all their assets, or even if there is a forum somewhere of a group

or SOG fans they could tell you.

Theres one guy you could ask that has done a mod for SOG ask @johnnyboy hes pretty good with code, configs and such he might

be able to give you some insights on SOG weapons and such.

Hello Gunter,

I am coming back after a month after experimentation. I have finally finished weapon sights zoom for SOG, Global Mobilization, CSLA, Western Sahara, and Spearhead. I'm playing around with it a bit more to see if I missed anything, but I can dm you the file if you want to test anything.
