Awesome!

This reminds me how badly we need a Spanish language radio protocol for ARMA to create spanish speaking factions.

Having been deployed there in the 1980's, I hope this will be pretty accurate in terms of the arduous barren terrain , in that there's little to no actual trees on the Island, unlike Europe, it's very similar to the West Coast of Scotland, minus the woods and forest's.

I spent my time on West Falklands, Fox Bay, it was as bleak and barren as it comes, and the elements wrecked havoc on the landscape. Save a few telephone/power lines, it really was the arsehole of the universe!!

I've said before, but I'll say it again, I'd pay good money for a Full Conversion to 1982 Falklands/Malvinas campaign (especially if it had a coop campaign).

The problem is that I'm not even sure that A3 can support a sufficiently large map.

The islands are 260x140 km. So even if you shrunk real-word dimensions by a factor of 4 (75x35 km), it would still be bigger than the biggest map in Arma (40x40 km).

IIRC Altis is about 16x16km.

So I'm amazed to see that you're working on two 80x80 km maps.

Best of luck to you.

There are maps way bigger than 40 km.

really try to take the engine to the extreme with tests of 260x260 and 160x160 but generated .pbo of more than 7gb (using lowres satellite textures) and simply did not load ...
I think it would be possible to scale in half and try 100x100 (there is a map of this size) or even 120x120, but I prefer to keep the real scale 1: 1
and with 80x80 I have some margin and I consider that those locations are where the majority of the actions were carried out, historically speaking

You have to split up the PBOs into smaller ones, I think the size limit is 2 GB per PBO. Look into the PMC Terrains

They are up to 143 km and sat is 1 meter / pixel.

Do you have any idea how to do it or if there is a post about it? If possible, I could try

Here is one way to do it. I did it manually with just Notepad++.

Really interesting and has a great History appeal, yet it seems to involve a lot of work. How many people are working together on these two projects?

I'm preparing all the files, going to make the attempt

the team is not very big, and indeed there is a lot of work to be done, we are 4 members, but we are willing to receive collaboration from the community

All ready to move to Terrain Builder

I plan to make a map of 320km2 (240 of land), and leave some extra sea, as it has no texture ...

This is a lowres satellite texture (zoom 14 bingmaps) for the unimportant areas of the islands, not paying attention to the cloudy areas, I will superpose the highres satellite textures (zoom 18) of the 2 current 80km maps

Looking good.

I am currently using this configuration similar to that of my 80km terrains
but it generates 29241 tiles ...

SPECS:

Grid Size: 8192x8192
Cell Size: 40
Terrain Size: 327680

Satellite Size: 163840x163840px
Resolution: 2m/px

Tiles Size: 1024x1024px
Desired Overlap: 16px
Texture Layer 160.00x160.00m

Do you recommend increasing the values of Tiles Size and Desired Overlap?
How do you think it would be more convenient?

Thank you

I'm no expert on large terrains, that would be Snakeman, but you're pretty much gonna have to deal with ridiculous amounts of files when makeing huge maps. Maybe you could try to increase the tile size to 2048px?
