AI tries to avoid it and surrounds it, I would think it is the most logical.
I clarify that it is not clutter, they are objects placed with SFlora

What period are you doing the maps for, I ask because the islands have changed hugely since 82, Stanley effectively doubled, a huge increase in roads across the whole island, Stanley airport changed lots too.

It took many weeks for me to work out what was in 82 and what was newer.

I spent over 5 years working on multiple terrains for OFP and 1982:Flashpoint in the Falklands.

Just came across a load of CD's and DVD's with backed up files with of all the buildings etc we produced back then (most the of the buildings were my my work), including government house..

Even had streetname signs ! (pictures showed them in 82, so we did them!)

Been going over your maps, lots of coastline work required but elevation wise its reminding me of the work I did manually (sat maps or elevation data was not easy to get back in OFP days).

I imagine the hard work of recreating real terrain at that time, today there is very good DEM information, and it is relatively easy to create a real map in ARMA, which took me a long time to combine two height maps to add depth to the ground
I do not get good results with Buldozer to correct the coastline, I find many imperfections just when I open it from the game, I have to keep trying ...

The project is planned for 1982, I am aware of the increase in the infrastructure, even a lot of mining activity is also appreciated to correct in the satellite, I must say that the amount of corrections that I should make, obviously in the Stanley and in the Airport is where there was more growth..
As for roads I am using openstreetmap vectors that I manually corrected 100% for the locations that I am going to recreate:

Although most of the current streets certainly did not exist at that time, I do not know if it is necessary to be so historically rigorous in this aspect, except in the most important locations, I knew that I will evaluate it as I move forward.
Although it would be helpful to have the largest number of aerial photographs of recognition of that time.

I have been with these lands for 3 years (not full time), I am trying to prepare an alpha version of the new land to upload next month, with an improved clutter, stone rivers and roads, I also have a very basic port of buildings that you made for OFP, including your boats (static), which you planned to upload also if there is no problem, it would be possible to see that it can be improved or replaced.
However, I would like to be able to devote more time to this project, so any collaboration is appreciated!
Regards

@LoRo Great work but how can you distinguish historical pre-1982 roads from post-1982 roads on modern (satellite) maps? e.g. openstreetmap, etc.

thanks,

I can't, just comparing with photos of air reconnaissance missions of that time I guess,
at the moment my maps have current satellite textures, and the respective roads matching the texture

I guessed but you confirmed IMINT.

Although it's now almost 40 years old, is it still classified?

So, If I could throw in my two cents...
I don't think there's much of imagery intelligence from the war to look at. Constant cloud coverage and ongoing aerial battle over the islands wasn't helping in this regard. With my deep mining reg the war, I was able to found 1-2 products at best. The Google Earth application has useful "history" slider where you can look at old, historical images. Maybe, this could help LoRo? And, yes, there are tons of materials still classified in British archives, I believe, especially due to the prolonged nature of the dispute over the islands (still active these days) and  sides involved (to include US being ally for both sides back then and now).
As for roads, I don't think the infrastructure has changed much, apart from getting hardened surface. There has been one major improvement on the islands since the war, wich is dual-purpose airfield RAF Mount Pleasant, and that's it. The population of the islands has doubled from 1820 (1982y) to 3398 (2016y) but mainly due to expansion of the capital city and possibly the RAF airbase and the British garrison that both demand services providers from the local nation.

Just want to say, it looks amazing!

Indeed, it does.
I was always believing this terrain has huge MP potential for many reasons. Barely populated with trees and bushes, and having few small settlements (except the Puerto Argentino / Port Stanley), it could provide great FPS during intense gameplay with a lot of players on a server. Its sheer size and wilderness boost up the requirements in reconnaisance, movement, logistics, tactics, camouflage and even gameplay. But the terrain shows its true valour in any game scenario portraying Falklands War 1982. LoRo created one of the best terrain ever. I still hope he will be able to create the whole eastern island as a one terrain that could be sailing around and played at during a seamless campaign. It would greatly help in recreation of air vs navy battles that took place there, too.

Tried contacting him on discord, he was having trouble binarizing the .WRP
I could upload it so you can test it and see if it works for your project

Wonderful! Please, do it on Steam or any direct means like googledrive, I am fine with any way. If you don't want to push this alpha on public, just send me a link via PM here at forum or through e-mail, please.
Thank you very much, LoRo!
