(SP) Last Tango in Tanoa - Episode 1Missing Person  RELEASED April 8, 2018

Rated 5 stars on Steam

LTIT_Missing.jpg

Mission Overview:  You are an expat American, now working as a cop on Tanoa.  You and your trusty K9 buddy Boomer will investigate a Missing Person report.  Your father is the famous El Cojon.

Background: Tanoa has been a peaceful paradise for many years, but Tanoans are tired of serving the MU (Madagascar Union), and Tanoans are now seeking indepedence from socialist Madagascar.  They will vote on TEXIT (Tanoan Exit) next week.  Madagascar has imposed high taxes, land confiscations, and has allowed too much immigration from Africa (mostly Somalia).  Crime and tension between the communties is growing.

Features:

  • JBOY Dog - Your dog companion will help you track fugitives and detect enemies.
  • Fully voiced
  • Linear story line
  • Johnnyboy-style humor (not for everyone!)
  • El Cojon returns (an infamous Sahranian resistance leader featured in Last Tango in Bagango) .  He only has a small part in Episode 1, but plays a much larger role in the coming missions.
  • A character named Booger (always a good indicator of well-crafted mature story telling)
  • Requires ARMA Apex, but no Mods required

Please rate and comment on Steam!  Thank you.  When posting to the forums hide spoilers please!!!

More Episodes coming:

  • Episode 2:  Stakeout (stake-out, heist, chase, shoot-out)
  • Episode 3:  Rustlers (track rare animal thieves, and use "less lethal" weapon donated to the police by El Cojon).
  • Episode 4: Blood in the Water
  • Episode 4:  Doom Stone (El Cojon seeks revenge)
  • Episode 5:  Boomer vs. Godzilla

Absolutely nuts! ^^

Loving the evolution of JBOY Dogs, a fitting tribute to Boomer!.....it sure is tough when they go, had to say goodbye to Rebus back in June, still going through the phantom pains.

Yes!! Another story with poor bastard El Cojon! :don11:

Absolutely looking forward to it, johnnyboy! Last Tango in Bagango was legendary! I remember myself lying on the floor laughing at that outro scene.

Also excited to see your dog script embedded into the mission.

If you need beta testers, I guess you know the right place, right? :icon14:

This looks exciting. Sadly I never played Arma 1, so I never heard of Last Tango in Bagango. I tried googling and found something with a similar name http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1276566536&searchtext=

Hopefully only the name is similar.

Son of a bitch!  I should of copyrighted my title.  lol.

All you need to know about Last Tango in Bagango is the character El Cojon was  a revolutionary on Sahrani, who paid a heavy price to earn his name.  Sadly, he lost that revolution and fled Sahrani, vowing to avoid conflict in the future.  He tried farming in Chernarus (in Chedaki territory...oops), and later opened a strip club in Takistan (only one for thousands of miles...should have been a freaking gold mine!), but alas, those ventures came to bad ends and Cojon had to once again pick up an AK47.  Fortunately, he found peaceful Tanoa to build a new life.   All is now well for Cojon and his family...

I really thought I was 2 weeks away from releasing Last Tango in Tanoa, but unless I quit my job and get a divorce, it looks like this won't be done for another month or two.  I'm bummed because I'm excited to finish it.

Just a few more days until first mission released!  I need to release it before those basturds @AZCoder and @zagor64bz shame me by releasing their full campaigns.

I would rather finish the campaign and release it as a whole, but I now realize that could easily take another 6 to 12 months to finish it.  But Episodes 2 and 3 should come out pretty soon, as they are 80% done.

Played through episode 1 and...

Johnnyboy, you did not disappoint! :icon_biggrin: Fantastic mission!

If someone is looking for a

  • VERY well handcrafted mission
  • with plenty of original and interesting details,
  • an exciting plot
  • with a lot of good fun and humor,

then don't look further. Too bad that the next episodes aren't ready yet.

Feedback (contains spoilers obviously):

Spoiler
  • Ah, so El Cojon managed to get the reporter, very interesting.
  • These snakes were awesome, Johnnyboy! Well done. I literally jumped away in panic as they exploded out of that box and could only understand as the other two started shooting them! Very well made, this part! And all other snakes were great too. :icon_biggrin:
  • Almost fell from my chair at the ending scene!
Spoiler

Someone always loses his nuts in your missions, as it seems. :icon_biggrin:

And the doctor, hahaha :icon_biggrin: What a mess! :icon_biggrin:

  • The dog script really is fantastic! Too sad that Boomer just moves through the objects, but it's not that bad.

Some mission "design" feedback:

  • Even with Boomer definitely being an outstanding factor in the mission, I think that the mission relies a bit too much on the dog. When I got the task to inspect the farm I was excited and looked forward to search these houses and maybe find an interesting object that could lead me somewhere or give a hint of how to proceed. I even started searching the bushes around the house first, so immersed I was. Maybe we could have to find something that gets Boomer started. Right now the only thing to do is to follow Boomer (throughout the whole mission from there on) and that's all. While it could be ok, the player's brain could be challenged a little bit too, IMO. And from my playing, the atmosphere to do this was definitely there.
  • Maybe some of the Somalians in that village and at the drug lab could attack the player's group. Or suddenly exit a building to attack. Right now the enemies were quite stationary, with only one or two exceptions.
  • There could be one or two more enemies in the village. The forest and drug lab fights feeled just right and tenseful (challenging).
  • Some more furnitures in buildings here and there would be a good addition.
  • The mission name in the briefing (top left corner) is fubar.

Ha. Just wrapped this up and it was a treat. The final sequence is pure gold.

Really great work here, this is one of the most pleasurable Arma missions out there.
